| Darrel Wayne Davis Darrel Wayne Davis peacefully passed from this life to be with his Lord and Savior on March 13, 2006. He was born in the Lockridge Community near Cashion, Oklahoma to Gladys Christner Davis on September 3, 1934. He grew up on the Christner family farm south of Cashion with his mother, sisters and Uncle Arthur Christner. He attended Cashion schools twelve years, graduating with the Class of 1953. FFA was Darrel’s passion, and he continued to win ribbons at State Fairs after graduation. He loved the outdoors, animals and people. He was known for teaching dogs unusual tricks, his vast musical collection, his sense of humor and love of life. He entertained everyone with his many original jokes, limericks and euphemisms. His capacity to remember numbers, especially dates and phone numbers was phenomenal. He enjoyed games, from shooting pool to throwing darts. Darrel lived in Cashion until moving to Mangum in 1980. He was a member of Mangum First United Methodist Church. He was employed as a farm laborer and custom harvester. He worked for the Cashion Farmer’s Coop, Oklahoma Furniture Manufacturing Company, Aero Commander/Rockwell International and was a certified small engine repairman. He was preceded in death by sister Francis Catherine Davis and mother Gladys Irene Davis and a host of aunts and uncles, cousins and friends. He is survived by: sisters Roberta Williams and Iris Deurmyer of Mangum and brother-in-law Richard Williams (who Darrel considered his real brother); nieces and nephews Shari and Brian Kloos, Erin, Logan and Casen Kloos all of Amarillo; Dr. Brian Williams of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Chris and Alice Deurmyer of Oswego, Kansas; Jeremy Deurmyer of Texarkana, Texas; and many beloved cousins and friends. Visitation services will be at Greer Funeral Home in Mangum on Friday, March 17, 2006 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be at Baggerly Funeral Home in Edmond, Oklahoma on Saturday, March 18, 2006, with visitation services at 1:00 PM followed by funeral service at 2:00 PM. Interment will be at the Christner Family Cemetery west of Edmond. |
| DEVOLL Edna B. Devoll, age 90 of Mangum, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2006 at Grace Living Center in Mangum. Mrs. Devoll was born on February 18, 1916 to William Emmit and Lue Vinita (Nally) Sampson in Llano, Texas. As a young girl, she moved from Texas to Oklahoma and attended Hackberry and Sulphur Schools in Harmon County. At the age of fifteen she met and later married the love of her life, Elmer Denley Devoll, on August 4, 1931 in Mangum. They lived in Booger Hollow and Shiloh before moving to their home, of many years, in northeast Harmon County. Edna was a loving mother and grandmother who adored her family. A very talented woman, she canned, sewed and assisted her husband with the farming chores in order to provide for their family. Mrs. Devoll attended the Pentecostal Church and was a member of the Sulphur Home Extension Club. As a talented musician, Edna played the harmonica, piano, guitar and fiddle by ear. The family will long remember the great times they had while listening to Edna play and entertain. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer, in 1996; a daughter, Millie Currie in 1987; a son, Carroll Devoll, in 1992; a step-son, Elmer Denley Devoll, Jr., in 1962; a grandson, Darrell Glenn Devoll along with eleven brothers and sisters. Edna is survived by three daughters, Sylvia Mitchell of Vinson, Lavada Devoll of Mangum and Judith McCaslin and husband R.W. of Mangum; eleven grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Funeral services for Edna B. Devoll will be Friday, March 17, 2006 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Mangum with Rev. Sam Studer and Rev. Mark Turvaville officiating. Internment will follow at Riverside Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum. The family of Edna B. | DILLAHUNTY Helen Dillahunty, age 89 of Mangum, passed away at Her home on Thursday , September 22, 2005. Helen was born to A.W. Ferguson and Lillie Follett on January 9, 1916 in Calvin Oklahoma. A member of the Rose Assembly Church of Mangum Oklahoma, Helen Married John Dillahunty October, 5, 1965 Helen Worked At cafes and waitressed most of her working Life. Helen was preceded in death by her parents ,Her Husband John F. Dillahunty five brothers Henry Ferguson, Virgil Ferguson, Everett Ferguson,Wilburn Ferguson and Marlin Ferguson . two Sisters Pauline Gable and Rudean Mears. She is survived by her sister Beth Brundige,one adopted sister Revia Passmore,one brother Chester Ferguson all of Mangum Oklahoma one adopted daughter Linda Collins and Her children and her grandchildren .and Many Nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Helen Dillahunty will be held on Monday, September 26, 2005 at 2 p.m. at the Greer Funeral Chapel in Mangum Oklahoma with Gary Usher officiating.
