Georgia Fay James

Georgia Fay James, age 79, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2006, at Southwestern Medical Center in
Lawton.
She was born August 25, 1926, to George T. Lane and Daisy E. (Emerson) Lane in Danville, Kentucky.
Georgia was a very giving and loving person, she enjoyed gospel music and praying for others, If she’d been a person
of wealth, she would probable still be penniless cause she would find someone to give it to who needed it more then
her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Lee James in June 26, 1968, Donald M. Davenport Sr., Pamela M.
James Corcoran, three brothers, Clyde, Harold and James Lane and three sisters, Alma Lane, Dorothy Ehrlich and
Aydrey Evans.
Georgia is survived by two daughters, Cindy Mundy and husband Michael and Gayle James all from Altus, Oklahoma,
one son, Ronald Davenport of Houston, Texas, sister Jeanie Lewis of Channelview, Texas, thirteen grandchildren,
eight great grandchildren and one great great child.
Graveside service will be held Thursday, February 23, 2006 at 1:00pm at Altus City Cemetery, with Dr. Jeff Moore
officiating, under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
The family will have a visitation Wednesday, February 22, 2006 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Lowell-Tims Funeral
Home.

JARVIS

Frederick Martin Jarvis, age 80 of Tulsa and formerly of Eldorado, passed away at his home in Tulsa on Tuesday
evening, July 25, 2006.  

Mr. Jarvis was born in Eldorado on October 29, 1925 to Archie and Lizzie (Harvey) Jarvis.  He graduated from
Eldorado High School in 1944 and moved to Burbank, California and resided with his aunt and uncle.  Beginning work
with Barnett Buick that same year, he continue with the same dealership until his retirement.  In the early 1980’s he
married Marianne Minerich in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Water skiing, boat racing, motor cross, snow skiing, dirt biking
and four wheeling were some of his favorite hobbies during his free time.  Mr. Jarvis continued living in California until
six months ago and moved to Tulsa to be near his family.

Preceded in death by his parents and wife, Marianne, he is survived by three step children, Randelle Chavarin of
Whittier, California, Nikki Darby of Cypress, California and Tony Minerich of Salt Lake City, Utah; one brother,
Holland Jarvis and wife Naomi of Lubbock, Texas; two sisters, Kay Yeksavich of Oxner, California and Gwen Long
and husband Donley of Eldorado, Oklahoma; seven nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Graveside services for Frederick Jarvis will be Thursday evening, July 27, 2006 at 7 p.m. at the Eldorado Cemetery
with Bill Osborne officiating.  Services are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.

Mr. Jarvis will lie in state at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home in Eldorado from noon Thursday until service time Thursday
evening.

JOHNSON

Jimmie Lynn Johnson, age 50 of Altus, passed away early Friday morning at Grace Living Center.

Jimmie was born on May 2, 1955 in Memphis, Tennessee and raised by her mother and step-father, Bill and Marie
(Hurley) Kannady.  As an Army wife, she lived in many places and always found a way to work or volunteer at a
local Goodwill Store wherever they lived.

Cooking was a favorite pastime and pinto beans were her specialty.  Jimmie also enjoyed tole painting, bowling and
country music, but her favorite pastime was spending time with her children and grandchildren whom she dearly loved.

Preceded in death by her parents, Jimmie is survived by one daughter, Jennifer Lambert and husband Chad of
Hernando, Mississippi; one son, Jason Johnson and wife Rachael of Blair; three grandchildren, Kaden Johnson and
Kylie Johnson of Blair and Reese Lambert of Hernando, Mississippi.

A memorial service for Jimmie Lynn Johnson will be held on Monday, April 10, 2006 at 10 a.m. at Southside Baptist
Church with Rev. Jason Duree officiating.  Arrangements are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of
Altus.
Johnson
Sandra Valerie (Soto) Johnson, 37, of Hollis, died suddenly on Sunday, Aug. 13, 2006, in Kingfisher.

She was born Aug. 24, 1968, in Hollis to Bernardo and Celia (Herrera) Soto. After graduating from Hollis High
School in 1997, she attended Western Oklahoma State College in Altus and obtained her associate's degree in liberal
arts. She was two credits away from receiving her teaching degree at Cameron University before her death.

She married Keith Johnson on April 10, 1999, in Hollis, and they had three beautiful children. She had a beautiful
singing voice and won two awards: the Oklahoma Female Vocalist of the Year and the Oklahoma Newcomer of the
Year in Las Vegas in 1998. She had also recorded a professional cassette tape titled “Dream On Girl.”

She is survived by her husband Keith Johnson, of the home in Hollis; three children, Valerie Snow Johnson, Richard
Keith Johnson and Ramon Bernardo Jose Johnson, all of the home; her mother, Celia Soto of Hollis; three brothers,
Ricky Soto and wife Anna of Hollis, Daniel Soto and wife Debra of Childress, Texas, and Martin Alvarado and wife
Brenda of Hollis; five sisters, Aldonna Perez of Silverton, Texas, Julia Rosales and husband Richard of Hollis, Olga
and Willie Cuevas of Hollis, Esmeralda Cruz and husband Joe of Kingfisher, and Patsy Jones and husband Leonard
“Buddy” of Russellville, Ark.  

She was preceded in death by her brother, Johnny Soto, in 1983;, her father, Bernardo Soto, on July 9, 2006, and
her grandparents.

A Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. today at Patterson Greer Funeral Home.  


The Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Hollis with the
Rev. Joseph H. Arledge officiating. Interment will follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Hollis under the direction of our
Funeral Home in Hollis, Patterson Greer Funeral Home.
Donald R. Jones

Donald R. Jones, age 71 passed Monday, January 10, 2005.  Resident of Pasadena TX, for 42 years. Member of
First Baptist Church of Pasadena. Retired form ARMCO Steel Corp. and Texas Instruments.  Graduated from Texas
Tech. University.  Served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict.  
Survivors by is loving wife Patricia Jones, daughter; Amy Jones, son; Jimmy Jones; sister; Shirley Sanders; Brothers;
Wayne Jones, Larry Jones; three grandchildren; Jonathan, Austin, Natalie.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00pm Tuesday, January 11, 2005 at Colonial Funeral Home.

Harold W. Jones

Harold W. Jones, age 87 died Monday, January 10, 2005 at Tamarack Retirement Center.  Burial with full military
honors including a Marine Corps Honor Guard will be held at the Altus City Cemetery on Saturday, January 15, 2005
following Funeral  Mass at Prince of Peace Catholic Church on Falcon Road at 12:30 P.M. with The Reverend Joe
H.  Arledge officiating under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

Jones was born March  16,1917 in Altus to John Isaac and Georgia Irene Jones. Harold served in the U.S. Marine
Corps with the “Banana Fleet Marines” prior to WWII. During WWII he was wounded at Iwo Jima. After the war he
became co-owner of Jones Pawn Shop with his father, J.I. Jones, and his brother, Gravis Jones, until Harold retired at
age 62.

Jones was soon recognized for his talent of rock-laying as he built a huge rock wall on his North Lee property. He
then rocked his own home in the country east of Blair and rocked the Knights of Columbus building north of Altus. He
did most of the last two after retiring from the Jones Pawn Shop. He was a kind, considerate, intelligent, hard-
working, generous, patriotic person who cared very much for his family and his country. Harold was known for his
fairness to all people regardless of race, color, creed, or national origin.

Jones was a lifetime member of the VFW, the American Legion, the NRA, the Disabled American Veterans, the
Purple Hearts Association, and the Knights of Columbus, 3rd and 4th Degree.

Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be 4th Degree Knights of Columbus.

Jones is survived by three children, a twin son, Patrick L. Jones and his wife Barbara, of Bellevue, Nebraska, a twin
daughter, Patricia L. Blackman and her husband Don of Altus, and a son, H. Bob Jones of San Antonio,Texas.  He is
also survived by six grandchildren, Craig, Debby, and Deanna Dickerson, John and Rick Jones, and Kelly Allen, and
three great-grandchildren, David, Joseph, and Shelly Jones.  He is also survived by two nieces, Karen Knox and
Shirley Updegraf, and one nephew, Gary Jones.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Laura Margaret Sperlazza Jones, October 13, 1992, his brothers,
Gravis B.  and Bobby S., his sister, Pearl, and both parents.

A visitation will be held at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 12, 2005 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

A Wake to celebrate Harold’s life will be held at the Parish Hall of Prince of Peace Catholic Church on Friday,
January 14, 2005 at 7:00 P.M. the day prior to the funeral mass services and his many friends are invited to attend the
celebration.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his honor may be made to St. Vincent DePaul in care of Ron or Betty Ray.

Lannie Ray Jones

Lannie Ray Jones, age 54, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2006, at his home in Martha, Oklahoma.

Lannie was born October 26, 1951, to Paul Jones and Lillian (Stephens) Jones in Olustee, Oklahoma and graduated
from Blair High School in 1970.

A truck driver for Jewett Scott Trucking, Passmore Trucking, and most recently, Quick Sand Trucking of Headrick,
and avid coyote hunter,  Lannie’s favorite times were spent with his family and friends.

Preceded in death by his father in December 30, 2002, Lannie is survived by his mother, Lillian Jones, of Martha,
Oklahoma; his son, Justin Jones and wife Danyale, of Altus; two sisters, Kathryn Galle of Anchorage, Alaska and
Mary Norton of Garland, Texas. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Preston Jones and Kelsey Jones both of
Altus.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, July 24, 2006, at 10:00 am at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Steve
Orick officiating. Interment will follow at Martha Cemetery.

James Lloyd Johnson

James Lloyd Johnson, 86, died Wednesday, December 06, 2006, at his home near  Humphreys, OK.  Funeral
services will be held at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home, Friday at 2:00 P.M  with burial to follow at Altus City Memorial
Cemetery.



Lloyd was born July 25, 1920 in a small framed house southeast of Altus, OK to C. E. and Myrtle Mae (Stults)
Johnson.  He attended Humphreys Public School where he was the first of eight family children to graduate.  He met
Inerd Clifton at a Humphreys – Ozark basketball game and they married on August 31, 1939 and remained married
until her death more than 57 years later.  Two sons were born out of the marriage: James Lynn Johnson and Michael
Lee Johnson.



Born to an agriculture family, he continued to farm and raise cattle until his death.  He also worked for Walsh, Watts,
& Williams and successor oil companies for over 60 years.  He enjoyed life immensely and was passionate about
spending time with family and friends.  One of his greatest loves was fishing and hunting with his father, siblings, sons,
grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He established a family tradition by organizing over 45 hunting trips to
Colorado and 20 fishing trips to Alaska.  He also held over 25 annual fish fries at his barn for the enjoyment of the
surrounding community and making knives as gifts for family and friends.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church
of Altus and was a Scottish Rite 32-degree Mason for more than 55 years.  He previously was a faithful member of the
Humphreys Baptist Church and was instrumental in its growth and built and installed the baptistery.  He previously
served on several boards including the Humphreys Coop and Southside School near Hess, OK.



He is survived by one son, Mike Johnson and his wife Brenda of Falcon, CO; five grandchildren: Greg Johnson of
Falcon, CO, Cassie Farr and husband Troy of Blair, OK, Britt Johnson and wife Suzy of Edmond, OK, Chad
Johnson and wife Kelli of Wilson, OK, and Trent Johnson and wife Cindy of Littleton, CO; ten great grandchildren:

Seth, Jesse, and Macy Farr of Blair, OK, Mikaela and Kenna Johnson of Glenns Falls, NY, Austin and Hannah
Johnson of Edmond, OK, Nathan and Aaron Johnson of Wilson, OK, and Cecille of Littleton, CO.  He is also
survived by his mother, Myrtle Mae Johnson; two sisters, Jacqueline Jenkins of Springfield, MO, and Nelda Gramling
and husband T. L. of Altus, Ok, and three brothers: Donald Johnson and wife Helen of Bethany, OK, Carl (Bluford)
Johnson and wife Bonnie of Bethany, OK, andCharles Johnson and wife Ilene of FL.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Inerd, son Lynn Johnson; father C. E., and two sisters: Gleola Southern
and Janette Jones.

Jones

Bertha E. Jones, 81, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2007, at the Plantation Village Care Center in Altus,
Oklahoma.
Bertha was born May 14, 1915, in Sturgis, South Dakota, to Clyde and Ellzana (Mendenhall) Tipton.  She
graduated from Sturgis High School.  Bertha married Merle Edward Jones October 14, 1941, in Newcastle,
Wyoming.  She was a homemaker and loved reading, gardening, and sewing.  She and her husband to Altus in the
early 1970’s where they lived in retirement until her husband’s death in 1999.  She was a member of the Baptist
Church.
Preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Wanda Davidson, one brother, one sister, and one great-grandson,
Bertha is survived by one son, Leroy Jones and his children Ellzana Jones and Remington Jones, all of California; one
daughter, Ruby Patterson of Texas, and her children, Duska Rohrbach of Washington State and Lisa Beens of
Texas; a son-in-law, William Davidson of Altus and his children William Davidson, also of Altus and Wayne
Davidson of Huntsville Alabama; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
         

Graveside Services for Bertha Jones were held 10:00 am, Monday, January 8, 2007, at the Altus City Cemetery
with Chaplain Erin Martinez officiating.   Arrangements are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.

Dee Dee Jackson

 Deann “Dee Dee” Jackson, 30, of Hollis, passed away suddenly Sunday, January 28, 2007, in her home.
 Dee Dee was born September 27, 1976, in Altus, Oklahoma, to Steve Clement and Pam Allison.  She started school
in Arlington, Texas, and then moved to Hollis to attend school.  She later moved to Newcastle, Oklahoma, and
finished her education there.
 Dee Dee and Jerrill Jackson were married in Hollis, Oklahoma, on May 29, 1993.  They made their home in Hollis
and had two daughters, Jennifer and Kayli.  Dee Dee started working for Dr. Ben Bell at the age of 18 and worked
there for a little over seven years.  When he closed his dental practice, Dee went to work as a CNA and Home Health
care provider until she was no longer able to do so.  She loved working with the elderly.  It was a great disappointment
to her when she was no longer able to work as a CNA.  She loved her family and friends, and she was loved by them.  
Dee Dee was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hollis.
 Preceded in death by all her great-grandparents, she is survived by her husband of 13 years, Jerril Jackson, of the
home in Hollis; two daughters, Jennifer Jackson and Kayli Jackson, also of the home; her mother, Pam Hubanks of
Noble, Oklahoma; her father, Steve Clement and wife Carla, of Hollis; two brothers, Sam Hubanks and Charlie
Clement; two sisters, Cortney Clark and husband Jason and Lindsey Hubanks, all of Noble, Oklahoma; her
grandparents, Don and Patsy Clement and Jimmy and Chloetta Allison, all of Hollis; her father-in-law and mother-in-
law, Bill and Cindy Jackson, also of Hollis; and loving aunts, uncles, and cousins too numerous to list.         

Funeral Services for Dee Dee Jackson will be held 2:00 pm, Thursday, February 1, 2007, at the First United
Methodist Church in Hollis with Reverend Sally Barber officiating.  Interment will follow at Fairmount Cemetery in
Hollis under the direction of our funeral home in Hollis,Patterson Greer Funeral Home.        
Emmett C. (E.C.) Jones


Emmett C. Jones (E.C.), a 60-year resident of Borger, Texas, went to the Lord on the first day of spring, March 21,
2007, at the Memphis Convalescence Center (Hospice).  Born in 1921 in Cleburn, Texas, to Cliff and Lucy Jones, he
attended Gould High School and served in World War II in the Army Air Corps, Signal Corps, in North Africa and
Europe.  Anna Lois Smith of Hollis, Oklahoma, became his bride in December 1946.  A baseball player in his youth,
he remained an avid baseball fan and taught his children and grandchildren to appreciate the sport; he also enjoyed
watching college football and basketball.  When he retired from Plains Plant, Phillips Petroleum Company (37 years),
he was able to devote full time to his true vocation of farming in Hansford County.  He was President Emeritus of
Union AFL-CIO #351 where members still call him a “giant” and remember and honor him for his integrity; Phillips
Petroleum officials respected him for his negotiation abilities.  
  He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Anna Lois Jones; daughters Anna Earlene Caspersen and husband
Roland of Los Alamos, New Mexico; Paula Teuton and husband James of Borger; Lisa Ridling and husband Jerry of
Houston; grandchildren Julie Marsh of Los Angeles, California; Holly Riley and husband Ford of Glendale, California;
David Teuton of Borger; John Ridling of Houston; great-grandchildren Fiona and Quinn Riley of Glendale, California;
brothers, Glenn Jones and Sterling Jones and wife Glenna of Hollis, Oklahoma; Cecil Jones and wife Evelyn of
Aberdeen, South Dakota; sister, Joyce Harris of Gould, Oklahoma, and numerous nieces and nephews.
   
Funeral Services will be held 10:00 am, Monday, March 26, 2007, at the Patterson Greer Chapel in Hollis with
Reverend Richard Manning of the Corinth Baptist Church officiating.  Interment will follow with military honors at the
Gould Cemetery in Gould, Oklahoma, under the direction of  our funeral home in Hollis,Patterson Greer Funeral Home.

Honorary spiritual pallbearers are co-workers from Plains Plant, AFL-CIO #351 members and his many friends from
Hansford County.  A memorial service at the Bunavista Baptist Church in Borger where he was a member will be held
at a later date.  Friends are encouraged to make contributions in his memory to the American Cancer Society.
JONES

Wayne (Bones) Jones, age 72, of Altus, passed away late Saturday evening, May 19, 2007, at English Village Nursing
Home.

Wayne was born on August 28, 1934, in rural Jackson County, to Fred and Maudie (Bradshaw) Jones.  He attended
and played ball at Friendship and later married Barbara Rollins on December 23, 1955, at Gould.  They spent fifty-one
wonderful years together before his death.  “Bones” as he was most commonly known, began working for the City of
Altus in 1965, and was a dedicated employee who could fix “anything” that dealt with electricity or a heating and air
conditioning system.  After serving the citizens of Altus for over thirty-two years, Bones retired in April of 1998.  
Working was his way of life, but he did take some time to enjoy fishing, hunting and taxidermy.  Visiting and being with
people was one of his greatest loves, besides being with his family.

Preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Don, Neal and Johnny, he is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, of
the home; one daughter, Natalie Wheeler and husband, Darris of Altus; one sister, Shirley Sanders of Franklin, Texas;
two brothers, Larry Jones and wife Lou of Sandy, Oregon and Ronald Jones and wife Lavon of Augusta, Kansas; two
sisters-in-law, Vera Bearden and Velma Smiley and husband Jack, both of Altus along with several nieces, nephews
other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services for Wayne (Bones) Jones will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home
Chapel with Rev. Keith Wiginton officiating.  Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of
Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.

Jorden

Willie Mae Jorden, age 79, formerly of Altus, passed away at her residence in Oklahoma City early Tuesday morning,
August 21, 2007.

Mrs. Jorden was born in Elk City, Oklahoma on June 21, 1928, to Willie Melvin and Ophelia (Cook) Jorden.  Moving
to Hollis where she attended school for a short time, she left school, at an early age, to help make a living for her
family.  Living many places during her lifetime, she moved to Altus in 1980, where she was a caretaker for people in
their homes.  In 1989, Mrs. Jorden moved to Oklahoma City to be closer to her children.  

Her parents, one son, Morris Cleveland Johnson, and one daughter, Carrie Lee Arnett, preceded her in death.   She is
survived by seven children, Alice Beard of Lawton, Rosie Williams of Altus, Howard Williams and wife Debra of
Midwest City, Oklahoma, Lois Johnson of Dallas, Texas, Patricia Johnson of Altus, Margaret Newton Johnson and
husband John Newton of Oklahoma City and Maurice Johnson of Oklahoma City, twenty-six grandchildren, fifty-two
great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends.

Funeral services for Willie Mae Jorden will be 10 a.m., Saturday, August 25, 2007, at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home
Chapel with Rev. Tyrone Campbell officiating.  Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of

Johnson

     Joyce Darlene Pascher Johnson, daughter of Verds (Dailey) Pascher and Raymond A. Pascher was born on
January 17, 1947 in Clinton, Oklahoma and passed away November 2, 2007 in her home in Altus surrounded by
her family.
      Joyce grew up on the Pascher family farm southeast of Weatherford, Oklahoma and lived there until 1958 when
the family moved to the city of Weatherford.  She helped with fhe family restaurant, Tiny Diner, while in high school.  
     She attended Weatherford schools and graduated from Weatherford high school.  She was active in the school
band, choirs and was a cheer leader through highschool.
     Joyce married Charles Johnson in 1964.  They made their home in Leoti, Kansas for eight years and have life
long friendships that were formed at that time.  They moved to Altus in 1975 and have made their home here since
that time.  She was a longtime employee of Marlene’s Hallmark here in Altus and at the time of her death was
employed by Lady Austins.
     She is survived by her husband of the home, one son Tony Johnson of Phoenix, Arizona; one daughter Tiffani
DeWitt and her husband Tim of Elk City, Oklahoma; two grandsons, Conner DeWitt and Cade DeWitt.  She is also
survived by one sister Raelene Amen and her husband Don of Weatherford, Oklahoma.
     Joyce is also survived by two nieces Tina Blanchard of Horn Lake, Mississippi; Tammy Kelln and husband
Chris of Fairview, Oklahoma; two nephews Darren Amen of Weatherford, Oklahoma and Bart Pascher and wife
Nicole of Yukon, Oklahoma; two aunts, Margarete Dailey of Lawton, Oklahoma and Melba Dailey of Midwest
City Oklahoma; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law Don and Diane Johnson of Altus, Oklahoma; nieces Donna
Cornelson and husband Randy of Weatherford, Oklahoma; Gail Jobe and husband Bill of Tucson, Arizona; Kristi
Kakouras and husband Theo of Elkin, North Carolina; Kayla Bearden and husband Rusty of Jonesville, North
Carolina and nephew Brent Bennett and wife Tracy of Altus, Oklahoma.  She is also survived by many great nieces
and great nephews.
     Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Charles Pascher and one sister-in-law Linda Johnson.
     Funeral Services for Joyce Darlene Johnson will be at 1:00 pm Monday, November 5, 2007 at the Lowell-Tims
Chapel in Altus.  The family will greet friends and family Sunday, November 4, 2007 from 6:00 to 7:00 pm  at
Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

Johnson

Myrtle Mae (Stults) Johnson was born May 7, 1903 to James Albert Stults and Mary Ella (Trimble) Stults in Marlow,
Ok.  Myrtle passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2007 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital at the age of 104.
Myrtle Johnson was one of Jackson County’s earliest settlers, arriving aboard a covered wagon in 1919 and making
the Altus area her home until the the time of her death.  Myrtle was well known in the Jackson County Home
Demonstration Club for her skills in sewing, quilting, and cooking, by winning many blue ribbons.  Vistiors rarely left
her home without a gift.  She was known for her loving heart and soft touch.
      In 1919 Myrtle married Carl Ernest Johnson and they raised eight children on the family farm near the Humpherys
community until moving to Altus right before Carl’s death in 1986.  Their home was always open to family and
friends.  She was eager to take in and help raise her other family members.  She enjoyed cooking and her homemade
rolls and apricot pie are legendary.
      Myrtle was full of energy and had a zest for life that was unmatched by  most of her peers.  She was gifted in
recognizing the best in others and in enhancing their strengths.  She loved unconditionally and was a role model and
mentor to over one hundred descendants.
      Myrtle was a long-time member of the Leah Sunday School class at First Baptist Church in Altus.
      Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, her son, Lloyd Johnson, her daughters, Gleola
Southern and Jeanette Jones, her grandsons, Lynn Johnson and David Johnson, a great-grandson, Pat Nickerson and
her great-great grandson Jesse Farr.
      She is survived by her daughters Jacqueline Jenkins of Springfield, MO and Nelda and husband T.L. Gramling of
Altus, and sons, Carl Bluford Johnson and wife Bonnie of Bethany, OK, Donald Johnson and wife Helen of Edmond,
Oklahoma and Charles Johnson and wife, Eileen of Port Orange, FL. Also survived by 16 grandchildren, 27 great-
grandchildren and 22 great,great grandchildren. And her sister, Evie Eaves of Amarillo, TX.
      In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Altus Centennial Memorial in care of The City
of Altus, 220 East Commerce, Altus, OK. in  Myrtle Johnson’s memory or a charity of your choice.
      The Johnson Family would like to extend their deepest graditude to Dr. Joe Leverett and the dedicated
employees of the Plantation Nursing Home for their excellent care of our loved one during her very long wonderful life.
      Funeral Services for Myrtle Mae Stults Johnson are scheduled for Wednesday, November 13, 2007 at 2:00 p.m.
in the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jeff Moore officiating.  Interment will follow in the Altus City
Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

Billy Raymond “Rooster” Jones

  
 Billy Raymond “Rooster” Jones was born on September 13, 1929.  He was left on the door steps of Vera Holding
in Tipton, Oklahoma and adopted by Raymond “Doc” and Bessie (Wilhite) Jones of Hess, Oklahoma.  He passed
away on April 19, 2008 at the Clinton Veterans Center at the age of 78.  
  
   He went to college at Southwestern Oklahoma State University where he played baseball and led all Bulldogs in
hitting and was in the top ten of all small college teams. He also received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at
SWOSU.  He went on to play semi-pro baseball in 1949-1950 and professional baseball for the Giants and Dodgers
farm clubs.
   
   Rooster was a long-time resident of Altus, Oklahoma where he owned and operated the Park Lane Nursing
Home.  He was a long-time Basketball and Baseball coach at Arapaho, Arnett-Hollis, Duke, and Tipton High
Schools.  His basketball teams compiled a record of 200-73; his baseball teams’ record was 195-102; and his Duke
team went 100-8 and twice reached the state tournament.  In 1995 he was selected to coach the AA American
Legion Team at Altus and in that same year he was also inducted into the Jackson County Athletic Hall of Fame.
Rooster was one of the most loyal fans of the Altus High School athletic events. He was a member of the First Baptist
Church of Altus and the Altus Bass Association.  His hobbies included fishing, gardening, and spending time with his
wife, children, and grand kids.
   
   He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Sue who passed away in 2004.  He is survived by five
children, Michale Marcy and her husband Keith of Clinton, Oklahoma; Nancy Richardson of Edmond, Oklahoma;
Tonia Duncan of Burns Flat, Oklahoma; Mike Weber of Oklahoma City; Mark Weber and his wife Jennifer of Tulsa,
Oklahoma; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; former wife Madonna Propps; numerous other relatives and
many friends.

   Services for Billy Raymond “Rooster” Jones will be at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at the Lowell-Tims
Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jeff Moore officiating.  Interment will follow at Altus City Cemetery under the direction
of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.
