McELROY

Blanche Marie McElroy, age 80 of Warren, passed away at the home her husband helped build for her early
Thursday morning, January 4, 2007.

Marie was born on July 7, 1926, to Edley Ray and Arebell (Dorries) Gipson at Wellington, Texas.   Moving to
Jackson County her junior year of high school, she attended Warren High School where she graduated.  On June
23, 1945, Marie married the love of her life and soul mate, Leland W. McElroy and he preceded her in death in
1973.  After establishing their home in the Warren Community, Marie began cooking at the Warren School and
continued to cook there until they consolidated with Friendship School and became Navajo.  Marie retired from
Navajo School in 1992 after many years of cooking.  Quilting, crocheting, keeping up with friends and family by
writing letters, collecting angels and dolls, attending family reunions, researching family genealogy and attending
Navajo Indian sporting events, particularly basketball, were the things she enjoyed in life.

Preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leland; one son, Kerry McElroy in 1999, one sister, Juanita
Coleen Gipson; two brothers, Wallace Gipson and Larry Gipson, she is survived by her daughter, Kay Stewart
and husband David of Altus; a daughter-in-law, Anna McElroy of Deerfield, Kansas; three grandchildren, Beth
Black and husband Jared of Edmond, Amanda McElroy of Deerfield, Kansas, Jeff McElroy of Deerfield, Kansas;
one great grandson, Dax Graham Black of Edmond; a special niece, whom she dearly loved as her own child,
Marie Timmons and husband John and their daughter Jamie of Altus; one sister Margie Eilen Love of Choctaw,
Oklahoma; two brothers, Calvin Gipson and wife Joyce of Altus and Charles Gipson and wife May of Blair; two
sisters-in-law, Mildred Gipson of Texas and Carolyn Gipson of Blair along with many cousins, nieces, nephews
and friends.

Funeral services for Marie McElroy will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 6, 2007, at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home
Chapel with Rev. Ralph Chapman officiating.  Interment will follow at the Warren Cemetery under the direction of
Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.

Maxine Lavon McMahan

Lavon McMahan, age 74, former Olustee resident went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, September 1,
2007 in Boulder, Colorado.  She was born June 10, 1933 in Tipton, Oklahoma to Alton Hollis and Lillie (Plew)
Hollis.
Being a mother to three wonderful sons; Sam, Mike and Danny Mains  her life was continuously filled with love,
laughter and special memories that the four of them shared together.        
On May 11,1970 in Wheeler, Texas Lavon and J.R. McMahan were united in marriage.  He preceded her in
death January 26,1995.
Lavon worked for the First State Bank in Eldorado; and owned and operated Southwest Loans in Olustee. She
worked  for the Olustee Cooperative Association for over 18 years serving as the office manager and later
promoted to the position of general manager. She owned and operated a commercial hog operation; and also
worked as a credit manager for Zales Jewelry.
Lavon was a longtime member of the Southwest Oklahoma Chapter American Red Cross Board. She served
as the mayor for the Town of Olustee for 14 years, served on the board of the Oklahoma Municipal Airport
Authority, Oklahoma Agriculture Cooperative Council. Lavon was an Oklahoma Honorary 4-H member for
many years where she enjoyed helping many 4-H members of Southwest Oklahoma. Lavon spent many hours
in helping children in the Olustee School System. She was involved with The Moms In Touch, and a member of
the First Baptist Church, Olustee, Oklahoma.
She is survived by her children; Sam Mains and wife Pam of Longmont, Colorado, Mike Mains and wife Carla
of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Carl Ann Mains Ward and husband Bobby of Tipton, Oklahoma; four brothers, Alton and
Sharon Hollis, Robert and Karen Hollis, Melvin and Jean Hollis, all of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Eddie and
Alma Hollis of Midland-Odessa, Texas. Lavon is also survived by her mother-in-law Marion Mains of
Hopkinsville,Kentucky; seventeen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces,
nephews, other relatives and many, many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one son Danny Mains.
Funeral Services for Lavon McMahan is scheduled for Thursday, September 6, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in the
Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doug Altom officiating. Interment will follow in the Altus City
Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

Bettty Sue McElroy

Betty Sue McElroy, age 77 of  Altus, Oklahoma passed away Monday, December 31, 2007 at the Oklahoma
Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
She was born October 3, 1930 in Altus, Oklahoma to Lillian Ruth (Holloway) Spears and W.T. Spears. Betty was
a graduate of Altus High School and later attended Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri.
Betty was a very dedicated OU Sports Fan. When she wasn’t watching sports she enjoyed playing cards and
loved reading books. She was a longtime member of St. Pauls Episcopal Church in Altus.
Betty is survived by three children; Carol McElroy of Altus, Oklahoma, Monty McElroy of Tulsa, Oklahoma and
Mary McElroy of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She is also survived by two granddaughters Katy Allen and husband
Sean of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Lisa McElroy of Tulsa,Oklahoma.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral Services for Betty Sue McElroy are scheduled for Friday, January 4, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Pauls
Episcopal Church with Rev. Mike Trachman officiating.  Interment will follow in the Restlawn Cemetery under the
direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home

McCOMBS

Francile McCombs, age 89, of Warren, passed away Thursday afternoon, April 3, 2008, at English Village
Nursing Home.

Mrs. McCombs was born on October 26, 1918, in Durant, Oklahoma to Robert D. and Myrtle (Roberts) Scruggs.  
Moving to Jackson County in 1923, at the age of 5, she attended Blair School for twelve years and graduated in
1936.  For the next few years she helped her father on the family farm.  On May 16, 1941, she married the love
of her life, Sam McCombs, and they spent the next forty wonderful years together until his death on October 24,
1981.  After spending most of her life in the Warren Community, she moved to Altus on April 20, 2003, and lived
there until her death.  Drinking coffee and visiting with family and friends were some of her favorite pastimes, but
watching baseball also ranked high among her favorite things to do.  

Francile was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sisters, Lucille Scruggs, Lydia Scruggs and
Juanita Scruggs Wilson and one brother, Leamon Scruggs.

She is survived by three children; Sammie Cook and husband Sam of Altus, Eddie McCombs of Helena and Rex
McCombs of Elk City; four grandchildren, Scott Rice and wife Lisa of Duncan, Stacy O’Neal and husband Kevin of
Marlow, Sam Rice of Enid and Brady McCombs of Altus; six great grandchildren, Robbi Rice of Duncan, Alex Rice
of Duncan, Sierra Rice of Enid, Morgan Rice of Marlow, J.T. Ballard of Marlow, Landry O’Neal of Marlow and
McKenzie McCombs of Norman along with many other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many
friends.

Funeral services for Francile McCombs will be at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, April 5, 2008, at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home
Chapel with Charles Waugh officiating.  Interment will follow at the Warren Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-
Tims Funeral Home of Altus.

McCLUSKY

Estella Ann McClusky, age 76, of Blair, passed away late Thursday evening, June 12, 2008, at her home East of
Blair.  

Stella was born on March 1, 1932, in Great Falls, Montana, to Jesse W. and Helen G. (Miley) Coady and lived in
Ft. Benton, Montana for several years with her parents while she attended school.  Shortly after graduation, she
married Lewis Raymond McClusky, on October 28, 1950, at Ft. Benton, while he was stationed there in the U.S.
Air Force.  In 1960, they moved to San Francisco where they lived until 1989, when they moved to Oklahoma to
be near their daughters and families and especially the grandchildren.  After forty-four wonderful years of
marriage, Lewis passed away on May 13, 1995.

Stella was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, James Coady; two infant daughters,
Debbie and Cindy McClusky; one son, John Gregory McClusky, one son-in-law, Eddie Garvin and two infant
grandchildren, John Winans and Emily Winans.  She is survived by two daughters, Pamela Winans and husband
Mark of Kingfisher and Shelly Garvin of Blair; one son, Douglas McClusky of Memphis, Tennessee; ten
grandchildren, Rebecca Lambrecht of Enid, Brandi Lyn Parker and husband Neil of Kingfisher, Scott Garvin and
wife Rachel of Leavenworth, Kansas, Timothy Winans of Kingfisher, Ashley Winans of Kingfisher, Michelle
Downing and husband Justin of Blair, Melissa Fixico and husband Dustin of Yukon, Shawn Garvin of Norman,
Dustin McClusky of Oregon and Billie McClusky of Oregon; seven great grandchildren, Ava Lunsford of Enid,
Jude Lunsford of Enid, Kristopher Grant of Kingfisher, Kolby Gilbert of Kingfisher, Taylor Thompson of
Leavenworth, Kansas, Dawson Garvin of Leavenworth, Kansas and Allison Garvin of Leavenworth; one brother,
John Coady of Las Vegas, Nevada along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

The family will greet friends on Monday, June 16, 2008, from 6 until 7 p.m. at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.  A
rosary will be conducted at Prince of Peace Catholic Church at 7 p.m., Monday, June 16, 2008.  A funeral mass
will be conducted at 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 17, 2008, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Father Joseph
Arledge officiating.  Interment will follow at a later date in Ft. Benton, Montana.  Services are under the direction
of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.

Fred F. McAlpine

  Major (Ret.) Fred F. McAlpine, age 97 of Altus, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2008 to join his
dear wife in Heaven.
 He was born December 5, 1910 on a farm near Altus, Oklahoma to John Alexander McAlpine and Minnie May
(Box) McAlpine.
 On December 17, 1941 in Seguin, Texas Fred married Fleta Lee Kizziar. She preceded him death August
17,2005.
 Fred entered the United States Army June 11,1928 as a private. He served ten years in lower grades and was
then commissioned to First Lieutenant and served in that grade for two years before being promoted to  
Captain. He served in that grade during Worl War II, which he fought in Europe. He returned to United States
after that war was over, trained troops for three years, and was promoted to Major and was assigned to Korea.
After the Korean War  he returned back to the United States, where he later retired having served over twenty
years. Fred received many awards during his military career including the Bronze Star Medal with “V” device,
Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman Badge, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African-
Middle Eastern Campaign Medal (with three Bronze Service Stars), World War II Victory medal, Army of
Occupation Medla (Germany), National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and the United Nations
Service Medal.
 After retirement he and his family lived in Florida for several years, then moved to North Carolina and later
returned to Altus where he and his family made their home.
 Fred was a longtime member of the Masonic Lodge #62 in Altus, V.F.W. Post #4876 and the American Legion;
and the Highland Heights Methodist Church in Altus.
 He is survived by one daughter; Carol F. McAlpine of Brookline, Massachusetts; three sisters, Mary Worsham
of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Kathleen Massey of Lakewood, California, Gertrude Hickerson of West Covina,
California; and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and his best friend Bobby Laws of Altus, Oklahoma.
 He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
 Graveside services for Major (Ret.) Fred F. McAlpine are scheduled for Monday, July 7, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at
the Altus City Cemetery with Masonic Rites and Full Military Honors officiating will be Bobby Laws.

Raymond McBlain

            Raymond McBlain, age 26, a resident of Altus since 1995, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday,
January 27, 2009 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus.

Raymond was born in Bitburg, Germany on October 12, 1982 to Franklin A. and Ling Lih McBlain.  Raymond
was a member of the Highland Heights United Methodist Church in Altus and he worked at Foxes Building
Supply in Farm and Ranch Supplies.  On October 14, 2006 Raymond married Diana L. Boyce at the Oklahoma
City Fair Grounds during the Morgan Grand National Horse Show where their horse competed.  He graduated
from Oklahoma State University in May of 2008 and earned his Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Animal Science
with an emphasis in Ranch Operations.  He was a member of the Oklahoma State University Alumni Association
and the American Quarter Horse Association.  Raymond enjoyed working on the family farm and he loved
animals especially his horses, cows, cats, and dogs.  Raymond loved his wife Diana and enjoyed being with her
and traveling together whenever they could. He liked target shooting and diesel trucks and being the all-
American cowboy.  He will be missed very much.

    Preceded in death by his grandmother Jennie Elizabeth McBlain; Raymond is survived by his wife Diana L.
McBlain of the home; his parents, Franklin A. and Ling Lih McBlain of Altus; one brother Shawn McBlain and his
wife Marie of Stillwater; one half-brother, Franklin McBlain and his wife Tracy of San Antonio, Texas; two half-
sisters, Beth Allyn Eberhart and her husband Mike of Salt Lake City, Utah; Wendy Cordell and her husband Joe
Joe of Elgin, Oklahoma; numerous other relatives and many friends.  

    Memorial Services will be at 2 pm, Saturday January 31, 2009 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with
Reverend Brett Thomasson and Reverend Charles Stewart officiating.  Under the direction of Lowell-Tims

McDuffey

Roberta H. McDuffey, 95, of Gatesville, Texas, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2009, at a local care center in
Gatesville.  
Roberta was born on July 15, 1913, in Martha, Oklahoma, to the late Robert Lee and Augusta Mae Sampler
Hamilton.  She attended school all twelve years in Martha and graduated in 1931.  She married Woodrow Wilson
McDuffey on May 1, 1936.  Roberta supported her children by papering houses, taking in ironing, and pulling cotton.  
She later worked in the school lunchroom as a cook.  Roberta was a member of the Martha Baptist Church and taught
Adult Sunday school for years.  In 1990, she moved to Gatesville, Texas, to be close to her daughter.
Roberta was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, J.D. Hamilton, Harold Hamilton, and Elvin Hamilton;
one sister, Wynelle Hawkins; daughter-in-law, Linda McDuffey, and a son, Doyle McDuffey.
She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Woodlock and husband Tim of Gatesville, Texas; daughter-in-law, Marjorie
McDuffey of Las Vegas, Nevada; son, John McDuffey of Mesquite, Texas; sister-in-law, Norene Hamilton of
Lawton, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren; thirteen great- grandchildren; eleven great-great grandchildren, and numerous
nieces and nephews.

Graveside services for Roberta H. McDuffey will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at the Martha
Cemetery in Martha.  The family will receive visitors from 5 until 7 p.m., on Monday, March 9, 2009, at Lowell-Tims
Funeral Home.

McCuistion

    Ronnie Lynn McCuistion, 52, lifelong resident of Olustee, passed away Wednesday April 22, 2009.

    Ronnie was born September 2, 1956 in Altus, Oklahoma to Perry and Norma (Welch) McCuistion.
 He grew up and graduated from Olustee Public Schools.  He received his BA Degree from
Southwestern University.  On April 15, 1989 in Eakley, Oklahoma Ronnie and Denise were united in
marriage.  They made their home in Olustee where they remained for several years.  Ronnie worked
as a mechanic at Bar-S for several years.
    He was preceded in death by his mother, Norma.  Ronnie is lovingly survived by his wife, Denise
of Altus; a son, Kaden of the home; one daughter, Jordyn, also of the home; his father, Perry
McCuistion of Altus; two brothers, Randy McCuistion of New Orleans, LA and Danny McCuistion and
wife Liz of Altus; two nieces, Whitney and Chelsey McCuistion also of Altus; and a host of aunts,
uncles, cousins, other relatives and many, many friends.
    Memorial services will be scheduled at a later date.  Local arrangements are under the direction
