Dixie Lee Anderson, 74, of Altus, passed away Sunday, May 30,
2010, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital.
    Dixie was born January 21, 1936, in Headrick, Oklahoma, to
Robert and Nellie (Cassidy) Marsh and was the youngest of seven
children.  She married Billy Joe Hamilton in 1952 and had three sons,
Hank, Robert “Buck”, and Darrell.  Her three sons were the light of
her life.  She later married Jimmie Anderson July 4, 1980, in Altus,
and they had twenty-nine wonderful years together.  Dixie worked at
Kellwoods in Altus for many years before it closed.  She later worked
as a Customer Service Representative at the Plaza Bank in
Bartlesville.  
    As a young girl, Dixie picked cotton during the hard times in
Oklahoma.  She loved to travel to Mississippi and Louisiana with her
husband Jimmie.  They also enjoyed going to Colorado to camp and
fish.  Jimmie and Dixie loved to dance and socialize with their friends
every weekend.        
Dixie was a thirty-one year member of Alcoholics Anonymous.  She
loved her church and was a long-time member of Trinity Baptist
Church in Altus.
Dixie is survived by her husband Jimmie Anderson of the home in
Altus; two sons, Hank Hamilton and wife Virginia of Dewey,
Oklahoma, and Robert “Buck” Hamilton of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one
daughter-in-law, Mickey Gore of Atoka, Oklahoma; one step-son,
Jimmie “Eddie” Anderson, Jr. and wife Pat of Altus; one step-
daughter, Tammie Crowder and husband Piney, also of Altus; two
sisters, Neva Jo Crain and husband Hilton of Arlington, Texas, and
Peggy June Hamilton of Durant, Oklahoma; twelve grandchildren; six
great-grandchildren; seven nephews, and eight nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Nellie Marsh,
one son, Darrell Glen Hamilton, one brother, Denver Marsh, three
sisters, Jessie Mae Thornton Dollins, Bobbie Jones, and Nelina
“Snorts” Anderson, and her first husband, Billy Joe Hamilton.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 2, at Lowell-Tims
Funeral Home from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Funeral Services for Dixie Anderson will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday,
June 3, 2010, at the Trinity Baptist Church in Altus with Pastor Ronnie
Chadwick and Pastor Randy Overstreet officiating. Interment will
follow at Fairlawn Cemetery in Snyder, Oklahoma, under the direction
of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
