Gerald Ray Whitehead, Sr.
Gerald Ray Whitehead, Sr., 60, of Duke, Oklahoma,
passed away Monday, February 15, 2010, at Jackson County
Memorial Hospital in Altus.
Gerald was born March 9, 1949, at St. Joe’s Hospital in
Ft. Worth, Texas, to Audrey and Sarah (Stone) Whitehead.
He made his home in Ft. Worth, where he worked for the
city water department for thirteen years before pursuing a
career in truck driving. In 1970, he married Alice (Tinney)
McKinney of Mangum, Oklahoma, and they had two children,
son Gerald Whitehead, Jr. and daughter Jennifer Whitehead.
In 1977, he remarried and had one daughter, Christie
Whitehead. Gerald retired and moved to Mangum in 2003.
He is survived by his children, Gerald Whitehead, Jr. of
Mangum, and Christie Whitehead of Ft. Worth, Texas;
grandchildren, Rachael and Shaun Whitehead of Saginaw,
Texas, Mikiah Bailey and Alora Whitehead of Mangum, and
Jose, Briana, Cristo, and Gilberto Mata of Ft. Worth;
brothers, Wayne Whitehead of Azle, Texas, Robert “Bob”
Whitehead of Granbury, Texas, and Theodore “Teddy”
Whitehead of Lake Worth, Texas; sisters, Audrey Webb of
Weatherford, Texas, and Sandy Lord of Ft. Worth, along with
many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was a special person
and shall be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Gerald was preceded in death by his father, Audrey Avery
Whitehead, mother, Sarah Whitehead, and one brother, Gary
“Dondi” Whitehead.
A Celebration of Life Service for Gerald Whitehead, Sr. will
be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 19, 2010, at Lowell-Tims
Chapel with Reverend Andrew Wilson officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral
Home in Altus.
