Juanita F. Cummins, 82, of Altus, passed away Monday, March 29, 2010, at
Jackson County Memorial Hospital.
    Juanita was born February 8, 1928, in Vinson, Oklahoma, to Lige and Ethel
(Snider) Hill.  Her parents moved their four daughters to Newsome, Texas,
where Juanita attended school.  The Hill family moved to Hollis, Oklahoma, in
1945, when Juanita was 17.  She met the love of her life, Coy Cummins at
Hollis Drug and they dated a little over a year.  She and Coy married September
14, 1946, in Childress, Texas.  Coy suffered a tragic accident on July 14, 1962,
and he passed away that same day.  Juanita and her son Gary moved to Altus
shortly thereafter when Gary was 14.  She worked at Altus Air Force Base for
two years while her son was in the Navy.  Juanita was a member of the First
Baptist Church in Altus.
    Preceded in death by her parents, Lige and Ethel Hill, her husband, Coy
Cummins and one sister, Viola Bass, Juanita is survived by her son, Gary
Cummins and wife Dixie of Altus; one grandson, Chris Cummins, also of Altus;
two sisters, Oleta Penington of Oklahoma City and Lil Smith and husband Rip of
Ruidoso, New Mexico; one sister-in-law, Mary Jo Cummins Beck and husband
Lawrence of Hollis; one brother-in-law, Dickie Cummins and wife Sonya, also
of Hollis, and numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.


A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 31,
2010, at Lowell-Tims Chapel in Altus with Reverend Doug Altom officiating.  
Arrangements are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
