Keith Cumbie
Keith Elvin Cumbie, age 52, passed away Thursday December 15,
2011 at the OU Trauma Center in Oklahoma City following a tragic
accident.  
      Keith was born May 13, 1959 in Odessa, TX to O.E. Cumbie
and Betty Jean Cumbie.  Keith moved to Mangum in 1975.  Keith
met the love of his life Carol Ann Smith and they were married in
Mangum on May 11, 1979.  Keith and Carol shared 32 love filled
years together and enjoyed sharing their lives with their two
daughters Amanda and Jenna.  
      After receiving his Master’s degree in Education from
Southwestern Oklahoma State University, Weatherford, OK.,  Keith
moved to the Altus area, where he taught secondary math for Altus
Public Schools.  Keith was a member of the Martha Road Baptist
Church.  Keith spent his time outside of school farming and his
summers as a custom wheat harvester.   He was a member of
Professional Oklahoma Educators; active member of Farm Bureau;
and a life time member of the NRA.  He enjoyed driving his Mustang
Saleen and was a member of the Saleen Club of America.  
      Keith enjoyed life to the fullest.  He loved to hunt, go to
auctions, watch Texas Longhorn football, OU and Thunder
basketball.  He adored all of his family and friends and enjoyed
playing cards and visiting with all of them.  One of his greatest loves
was watching his grandson Jaxon play basketball, cars, and tractors.
Keith was a very caring and generous person. He was a believer in
Jesus Christ, spent time reading his Bible, and always helped others
when the opportunity presented itself.   
      Keith was preceeded in death by his father O.E. Cumbie, and a
grandson Matthew Allen Medlock Jr.. He is survived by his wife
Carol, his mother Betty Jean Cumbie of Mangum, his father-in-law
Henry Smith of Reed OK; two daughters Amanda Konen and
husband Bobby of Altus, Jenna Medlock and husband Matt of San
Antonio, TX; one sister Kathy Harry and husband Chuck of Dove
Canyon, CA; one brother Kenneth Cumbie of Hubbard , TX; one
grandson Jaxon Keith Konen; his best buddy Tony Sonaggera and
his son Trey Sonaggera; and a host of friends and relatives.
      Services will be held Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at 2:30 pm
at the First Baptist Church of Altus, with Reverend Kevin Baker
officiating.  Interment will follow in the Reed Cemetery with Lowell-
Tims Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.  
      The family will receive guests on Monday evening from 6:30 to
8:00 pm at Lowell-Tims.
