Lynn Beach

Forrest “Lynn” Beach, 79, of Altus, passed away Thursday, February 4,2009, at his home in
Altus.
Lynn was born April 4, 1930, in Elmer, Oklahoma, to Thomas Monty and Cordie (Dobbs)
Beach.  He graduated from Southside High School and was a lifetime resident of Altus with the
exception of his twenty year military career in the United States Air Force and had achieved the
rank of Senior Master Sergeant.  Following his military career, he had a twenty-year career
with the United States Postal Service.  He loved traveling, especially to Branson, Missouri.  He
loved watching his OU teams, Cowboys, and his westerns on television.  He especially enjoyed
spending time with his family, and they were the joy of his life.
Lynn met the love of his life, Patricia Smith, in St. Louis, Missouri, while attending St. Louis
University.  They married September 6, 1951, in St. Louis, and they spent the next fifty-eight
years together.
Lynn loved doing woodworking in his shop.  Making fudge was his specialty, but he was also a
fabulous cook in other areas, especially mashed potatoes.  Harvesting his pecans was one of his
favorite pastimes in the fall.  He loved playing pinochle, 42, and 84.  He was extremely
competitive.  Lynn was an avid hunter and fisherman in his younger days.  He passed peacefully
from this life in his home surrounded by his loving family.  Lynn was a faithful member of the
First Baptist Church in Altus.
Preceded in death by his parents, Monty and Cordie Beach, two brothers, Ray Beach and his
wife Grace and Tommy Beach, a great-nephew, Brandon Kale Beach, and brother-in-law,
Graves Coopwood, he is survived by his wife, Patricia Beach, of the home in Altus; his
children, Monty Beach and wife Arlene of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Barbie Allen and husband Jim
of Elmer, Oklahoma, Gary Beach and wife Jima of Altus, and Susie Young and husband
Randy, also of Altus; one sister, Nadine Coopwood of Chino Valley, Arizona; his
grandchildren, Heather Radu and husband John, Josh Beach and wife Jessica, Jason Beach and
wife Sarah, Erin McNamee and husband Caolan, Kyle Beach, Shawn Beach, Amy Lucas,
Kimberly Allen, Jeremy Allen, Elizabeth Carter and husband Ross, Christina Beach, Amanda
Hayes and husband Chris, and Cody Young; great-grandchildren, Journey, Asher, Jaiden,
Ireland, Jacoby, Dustin, Dylan, and Darren.  He is also survived by his brother, Walt Smith and
wife Jo and his sister-in-law, Jane Beach.

Memorial donations may be made to the Gideons, the Lane Monday Foundation through the
Tamarack Church of Christ, or the charity of one’s choice.  The family will receive friends
Friday, February 5, at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held 4:00 p.m., Saturday, February 6, at the First Baptist Church in
Altus with Reverend Keith Wiginton and Reverend Jason Duree officiating.  Interment will
follow at Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
