Norma Shirley

Norma Shirley, 93, of Altus and formerly of Purcell, Oklahoma,
passed away Saturday, March 13, 2010, at Plantation Village
Nursing Home in Altus.
  Norma was born April 11, 1916, in Tipton, Oklahoma, to Joseph
C. and Minnie Ola (Leonard) Blan.  She grew up in the Ozark and
Humphreys communities, where she attended school.  Norma
married Daniel A. Shirley August 20, 1933, in Jackson County,
Oklahoma.  
  She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Purcell.   Norma
was a mother and homemaker and loved giving of herself to others.  
Her hobbies included WMU, Home Extension Clubs, painting,
sewing, crafts, and working word puzzles.
  Preceded in death by her parents, husband, Daniel A. Shirley, two
daughters, Gayle Joann Hill and Patsy Ruth Hill, her
daughter-in-law, Dorothy Shirley, two sisters, and two brothers,
Norma is survived by one son, Dan Shirley and wife Miquelyn of
Purcell, Oklahoma; one daughter, Joyce Chisum and husband
Dwain of Altus; seven grandchildren, Sue and John Crow, Joe and
Marla Hill, David Denise Hill, Diane and Mike Dishman, Donna and
Ben Klepek, Natalie and Rod Millard, and Beverly Caskey; eleven
great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren, and her very
special friends, Rocky, Cindy, and Sarah Bates.  Many nieces,
nephews, and other friends and family also survive her.

The family will greet friends Tuesday, March 16, from 6:30 to 7:30
p.m. at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home in Altus.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, at
Lowell-Tims Chapel in Altus with Pastor Jason Duree officiating.  
Interment will follow at Altus City Cemetery under the direction of
Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
