| Tommy Joe Barnes was born on September 17, 1945, in Altus Oklahoma to Chester and Nettie Barnes. After graduating from Altus High School, Tommy attended Oklahoma State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Geology. After some initial work as a geologist, he began a very successful career in the sales and management of water well drilling services for Layne Western Companies in Omaha, Nebraska, Houston, Texas, and Dallas, Texas. Crown Pumps of De Leon, Texas, eventually gained his management talents, and Tom moved residence to the town of Stephenville, Texas. After many successful years in marketing management, Tom ventured into the realm of small business and opened the doors of the "Stephenville Health and Nutrition Center" and provided the residents of Stephenville and surrounding towns with quality health and nutrition products and expertise for several years. His adventurous spirit got the best of him as he sold his business, bought an RV and launched a several year road trip across the United States. His Allegro Bus could be seen anywhere from Nebraska to New Hampshire to New Orleans, but most often Lake City, Colorado. Tom and the Allegro Bus found themselves parked at the Forest Retreat RV Park in New Caney, Texas, when he was diagnosed with cancer. Tommy eventually bought a home in Humble, Texas, where he resided with his daughter, Sara and granddaughter Morgan where he lived the remainder of his days. On Sunday, December 4, 2011, Tommy Joe Barnes joined his parents in Heaven and bid farewell to his surviving children: Tommy Joe Barnes, Jr., Rebecca Jean Barnes, and Sara Elizabeth Barnes, his grandchildren Christopher, Evan, Aaron, Zachary, and Morgan, his brother Roger Barnes (Delores) and sister Mary Holsey (Wayne), his nieces and nephew, his best childhood friend, Billy Little, and his two closest companions during his final days: Claudine Morgan and Carl Sartore. Tommy would like to extend a special thanks to all the friends, neighbors, and acquaintances who assisted him and his family during his battle with cancer. Tommy faithfully served as a member of Valley Grove Baptist Church in Stephenville, Texas.
