Vernie Walker passed away Monday January 30th 2012, at her
home in Alvarado, Texas.
Vernie was born May 23rd 1908 in Memphis Texas. She is the
daughter of late Sam and Ida MaeVaughn.  Vernie was one of six
children and worked hard on the family farm.   She married James
Spivey and he preceded her in death.  She married Bert Walker June
11, 1970 in Altus, Oklahoma and he also preceded her in death.
Vernie had a great gift with growing flowers.  She loved all varieties
of flowers and would plant them in anything that would hold dirt.  
She was exceptionally good with sunflowers and roses.
Vernie never met a stranger.  She loved people and excepted
everyone as her "extended" family. She loved her Lord and enjoyed
reading her Bible and was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church
in Altus. She enjoyed watching Price is Right, Wheel of Fortune and
Cooking Shows on TV. Vernie had a long full life and enjoyed every
day of it.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, James
Spivey; her second husband, Bert Walker; one brother, Delbert
Vaughn; four sisters; Stella Moore, Dorothy Mallow, Annie Henry,
Ethel Lambert; one daughter, Dean Burch; and one son, Ewell
Spivey.
Vernie is survived by her three daughters Shirley Hull of Alvarado
Texas, June Hilton of Altus Oklahoma, and step daughter Wanda
Neal of Hugo ,Texas; 20 Grandchildren; 37 Great Grandchildren; 44
Great Great  Grandchildren; 1 Great Great Great Grandchild.
Services have been scheduled for 10:00 am Tuesday, February 1,
2012 at Lowell-Tims Chapel with Rev. Keith Baker officiating.  
Interment will be in the Restlawn Cemetery under the direction of
Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
The family will be receiving guest at Lowell-Tims from 6:00 until
9:00 pm Monday evening.
