Guy Mitchell
Garnett “Guy” Lynn Mitchell, 79, of Oklahoma City,
Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2010.
Known by all his friends as “Guy,” he was a native
Oklahoman born April 27th, 1930 in Beaver County.  He
completed his schooling in Balko and married the love of his
life, Juanita Fish, on Christmas Eve 1949.
Guy loved his country and his patriotism led him in 1947 to
join the Army Air Corp, later known as the U.S. Air Force.
Over the next 20 years, he traveled extensively in the service
of his country and was a decorated war veteran serving in the
Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War.
When it was time to retire from the military, Guy & Juanita
chose Altus as their home.  As the owner of Guy’s Windows
& Doors and Mitchell Construction, he got to know and love
so many people in Altus and the surrounding community.  As a
builder, he built many custom homes and commercial
buildings; He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
When his health forced him to retire a second time, he
continued to be involved in his community driving his pickup
truck around town with almost daily visits to Friendship Inn,
real estate offices, the Cadillac dealership and First National
Bank.  He remained interested in Jackson County farming as
well as oil & gas production in Beaver County and always,
always his Dallas Cowboys!  Illness forced a move to
Oklahoma City in 2006 to be nearer to his physicians.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Juanita, of Oklahoma
City; his brother, Ervin Mitchell, of Balko, OK; daughters and
their husbands, Sandra & Charles Kenley of Raleigh, NC and
