Charles had lived in the Altus and Jackson County area for many years. He is preceded in death by his parent. Charles is survived by survival cousins and other relatives. | Miriam Earlyne Ragsdale Miriam Earlyne Ragsdale, age 81 of Altus, passed away at Jackson County Memorial Hospital late Friday evening, September 30, 2005. Mrs. Ragsdale was born on August 23, 1924 to Earl and Ester Logan. She married Curtis L. Ragsdale on February 29, 1952 in Long Beach, California. Mrs. Ragsdale was a registered nurse and worked for many years as a nurse in several doctor’s offices. As a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, she was very involved in the prison ministry, smoking clinics and food distribution. Her husband, Curtis L. Ragsdale, preceded her in death on October 6, 2004 after fifty-two years of marriage. Together they served their church and loved being involved in church activities and visiting with friends and family. She is preceded in death by her parents, her twin sister, Josephine, and her husband. Mrs. Ragsdale is survived by one son, Curtis E. Ragsdale and wife Debbie of Altus; one grandson, Zach Ragsdale and wife Tonya of Burleson, Texas; two great grandchildren, Taylor Ragsdale and Lexi Ragsdale of Burleson, Texas and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many special friends. Graveside services will be held Friday, October 7, 2005 at 10:30 am at the Keene Cemetery in Keene, Texas with Pastor John Johnson officiating. | Presley “Pete” Reynolds Presley “Pete” Reynolds, age 77 of Blair, passed away at his home northeast of Altus on Saturday evening, July 30, 2005. Pete was born in Bowlegs, Oklahoma on April 9, 1928 to Charley Thomas and Nora Lee (Hines) Reynolds. He married Lois Wilson in Quanah, Texas on September 25, 1971. Pete faithfully served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War in the 2nd Battalion of the 22nd Regimental Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Company H, in Schweinfurt, Germany and on the Chezch Border. During this time, Pete received the Army Occupation Medal of Germany. He stayed in close contact with several Army friends, enjoying frequent reunions. Presley Glen (Pete) was the fourth of eight children in a family who moved to Jackson County in 1928 shortly after his birth. Pete started to school at Eugene Field and also attended Porter Hi School. He farmed and ranched in Jackson County and around Blair all of his adult life, owning a gas station, Reynolds Rubber and Equipment, and Reynolds Country Corner. He also did custom harvesting, both cotton and hay, all over Texas and Southwest Oklahoma. Pete served for many years on the Blair and Humphrey Co-op Boards and other agriculture related boards. He was a Thirty-second Degree Mason, a member of the Scottish Rite, a Shriner and a member of the American Legion. Pete loved to have fun, laugh, joke, talk, and tell stories to anyone who would listen. He loved holidays with family and friends, especially Christmas and the Fourth of July. He never met a stranger, he loved to eat good country cooking, and he loved his family. Pete was preceded in death by his parents, one brother; Lawrence, three sisters; Frances Rieke, Virginia Stuchell and Ruby Bjoralt. He is lovingly survived by his wife, Lois of the home; three children, Janice Wilson and husband Boyd Lee of Montgomery, Alabama, Charles Presley Reynolds of Austin, Texas and Betsy Reynolds of Ada, Oklahoma; one brother, Earl Reynolds and wife Nan of Blair, Oklahoma; two sisters, Eva Mae Bryan of Napa, California and Rebecca York and husband Jim of Altus, Oklahoma; two grandsons, Boyd Lance Wilson of Birmingham, Alabama and Landon Wilson of Birmingham, Alabama along with a host of nieces and nephews who dearly loved him. | Felix Revilla Felix Revilla, age 66 of Mangum, passed away at Comanche County Memorial Hospital early Monday morning, November 21, 2005. Felix was born on July 29, 1939 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Abraham and Josephine Pena Revilla. He married Maria M. Revilla on December 22, 1958. Serving as a law-enforcement officer for most of his adult life, Felix began working for the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department as a reserve officer and later served as an officer with Hollis Police Department, assistant chief with Mangum Police Department and chief with the Sentinel Police Department. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Victor and a sister, Maria Felecita Bazan. Felix is survived by his wife, nine children; Florita Solis, Felix Revilla, Jr.and wife Mary Ann, Celia Sanchez and husband Filiberto, Eddie Revilla and wife Monica, Mary Ann Revilla, Gloria Revilla, Sylvia Revilla all of Ft. Worth, Billy Wallace and Catherine Wallace of Mangum, four brothers; Abraham Revilla, Jr. and wife Tomasa of Altus, Tony Revilla and wife Judy Ann of Altus, Frank Revilla of California and Tommy Revilla and wife Julia of Altus; three sisters, Carlota Galvan of Ft. | IVAN LLOYD ROBERSON Ivan Roberson, 84, passed away on March 28, 2005, at Epworth Villa Retirement Community in Oklahoma City. He was born on November 19, 1920, in Duke, Oklahoma. “Shorty,” graduated from Duke High School in May 1938. He attended Murray State College, Mangum Junior College and Southwestern State College in Weatherford. When World War II began, Ivan joined the US Navy as a Seaman First Class aboard the USS Lake Champlain. Ivan worked for the IRS and Travelers Insurance Company before he bought into an insurance and real estate business in Altus which became Gregg, Buck and Roberson. Ivan and his wife Dicy were avid supporters of Oklahoma State University. Ivan served on several committees and boards on the local, district and conference level within the United Methodist church. He was also active in the community serving in leadership positions with the Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce, Masonic Lodge, and Elks Lodge. In 1979 Ivan was elected President of the Oklahoma Independent Insurance Agents Association. Ivan is preceded in death by his parents Luther and Anna Lou Roberson, his wife Dicy; three brothers: Esco, Ernie and Earl. He is survived by three children: son Ivan, Jr. (Rob) and his wife Chris of Chanhassen, Minnesota; daughter Carol and her husband Harold Wright of Weatherford, Oklahoma; son Martin and wife Linda of Tulsa, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren living in Texas, Oklahoma, and Minnesota; three sisters-in-law: Gladys Foreman and her husband Rusty of Altus, Dorris Smart of Wichita Fall, Texas and Royleen Wells and her husband Charles of Oklahoma City; and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held at First United Methodist Church in Altus on Thursday at 10:00 with interment following at Restlawn Cemetery, Under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. | Roma M. Rouse Roma M. Rouse age 92, passed away Friday, March 25, 2005 in Phoenix, Arizona after a short illness. She was born September 7, 1912 in Altus, Oklahoma, she was raised near Olustee, Oklahoma, she attendeded local schools and graduated from Olustee High school in 1929, she attended Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma, Southwestern College in Weatherford, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma University in Norman, Oklahoma, graduating in 1933. After graduating from Oklahoma University Roma taught High school in Jackson County and Mcalester, Oklahoma from 1934-1942. She left teaching in 1942 and began a career at Stanolind Oil and Gas Company (now BP AMOCO) that same year in Tulsa, Oklahoma, she worked at Stanolind until 1956. Roma married John E. Rouse on September 4, 1956. She then moved to the One Bar Eleven Ranch near Encampment, Wyoming in 1956 where she helped her husband build a successful cattle ranch. The One Bar Eleven angus cattle herd became well known for outstanding quality and innovative advancements in the breeding of cattle. During the 1960’s and 1970’s Roma traveled the world with her husband and helped compile research on cattle worldwide. Their research lead to the publication of “World Cattle” and “The Criollo; Spanish Cattle in America”. During those years, Roma and John Rouse visited almost every country in the world. In 1986, John and Roma donated the One Bar Eleven Ranch and angus herd to Colorado State University for future research. They moved to Rio Verde, Arizona, where she lived until after her husband’s death in 1990. She moved to Fountain Hills, Arizona. Roma kept a portion of land and her house at the One Bar Eleven, which she continued to visit during the summers after her husband’s death. Roma was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Rouse, her parents Byrn N. and Eva L. McCormick, and her sister Angie Kels0, She is survived by step-daughter Martha Rouse Schalk, Step-grandchildren, Claudia Short, Steve Schalk and Karen Schalk, seven great-grandchildren, all of Albuquerque, New Mexico, cousin Dwain Jeter and wife Earlene of Rio Verde, AZ., step-daughter-in-law, Barbara Rouse of Arizona, and many close friends. | Carlos Ruiz, Sr Carlos Ruiz, Sr., age 45, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2005, at Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton. Carlos was born November 4, 1959, in Spur, Texas, to Francisco and Isabel (Rodriquez) Ruiz. He graduated from Blair High School in 1978 and was a hard worker all his life. He started out pulling cotton at the age of 8 and then at the age of 16 worked at the Martha Cotton Gin. After graduation, he went to work for ORO. He then worked for Lloyd Smith Auto for 10 years before going to the Air Force Base to work in Nonappropriated Funds (NAF), 97th Services Squadron from the spring of 1990 until spring of 2001 when he became a civil service employee for the 97th Maintenance Directorate. He was currently employed by Civil Service as a tool and parts attendant in the Tanker Division, where his love of vehicles enabled him to become the Vehicle Control Monitor for the division. He also worked part-time at the Altus Wal-Mart in addition to his job at Civil Service. Carlos was very active in his community where he served on the American GI Forum and was appointed by Governor Frank Keating to serve on the Oklahoma Hispanic Committee. He also volunteered for the American Red Cross for several years. Carlos loved working on cars, riding his motorcycle, and loved music and dancing. He was very proud of the year he was named tortilla champion during Hispanic week in 1989, when he beat out his own mother, who received 2nd place. Carlos was a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Altus. He is survived by his sons, Carlos Ruiz, Jr. of Oklahoma City and Mario Ruiz of Altus; his parents, Francisco and Isabel Ruiz of Altus; his brothers and sisters, Rick Ruiz and wife Mary, Michael Ruiz and wife Rhonda, Irene Roblez, Amelia Costner, Lupe Marquez, Isabel Long and husband Kirk, and Christina Ruiz, all of Altus. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and many friends. | Maude Marie Russell Maude Marie Russell, of Stillwater and formerly a resident of Altus for many years, was born September 20, 1912 in Missouri to Daniel Jefferson Scott and Maude Ethel (Paden) Scott and died May 6, 2005 at Renaissance Assisted Living Center, Stillwater, Oklahoma at the age of 92, 7 months and 16 days. She married Clyde Gillespie Russell on June 1, 1933 in Ironton, MO. They were married by Maude Marie’s father Rev. D.J. Scott in the Scott home. On June 1, 1983 Maude Marie and Clyde celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary together at the BSU in Altus. Maude Marie and Clyde me at Southwestern Missouri Baptist College at Bolivar, MO. The following year she went to school at Hannibal, MO and attended 2 summer terms in the State Teachers College at Warrensburg, MO She was 19 when she started teaching and taught at Higginsville, MO for 3 years in a one room school house. She had 40 pupils-37 boys and 3 girls. She boarded with a German family and walked 1 1/4 miles to school every day, rain or snow. Maude Marie was always very active in the First Baptist Church of Altus serving on many committee’s, active in the Prayer Room Ministry, worked with the Singles group and she started the Coffee House on South Main which evolved into the BSU at the Jr. College. She was chosen All Church Sweetheart. She was a member of Erolethian Club and was instrumental in helping bring the artist DeGrazia to Altus for a fund raiser that was quite a success. Maude Marie and Clyde enjoyed traveling. They attended The National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C. where the Rev. Billy Graham gave the opening prayer and Bishop Fulton Sheen delivered the message followed with an address by President Carter. They were especially interested in welcoming newcomers to church and Altus opening their home for entertaining often; both truly loved people and were gracious hosts. Maude Marie and Clyde were selected as Mr. and Mrs. Western Trails in Altus and were always wonderful ambassadors for Altus. Maude Marie is survived by two sons, Dr. Clyde Scott Russell and wife Maggie of Stillwater, Oklahoma and Dr. Rex Daniel Russell and wife Judy of Ft. | Antonio “Tony the Tiger” Revilla Tony Revilla, age 64 of Martha, Oklahoma passed away Monday evening October 17, 2006 at English Village Manor. He was born April 19, 1942 in Texas to Abraham and Josephina (Pena) Revilla. He married Judy Michael on April 22, 1976 in Ft. Worth, Texas. Tony moved to the Jackson County area thirty years ago from Ft. Worth, Texas. He worked as a steel worker for North Texas Steel Company for many years. Tony enjoyed fishing, raising animals, recording DVD’s, and especially spending time outdoors. He loved and cherished the special times he spent with his family and friends. He was of the Pentecostal faith. He is lovingly survived by his wife, Judy of the home in Martha, Oklahoma; five children Norma Davilla of Edinburg, Texas, Richard Revilla and wife Arcilia of Ft. Worth, Texas, Reynaldo Revilla and Ronald Revilla both of Ft. Worth, Texas, Elizabeth Revilla of Martha, Oklahoma; son-in-law Jeff Kolesar of Martha, Oklahoma. | RALEY Dessie Mozell Raley, age 79 of Altus, passed away Thursday, October 19, 2006 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital after a long battle with breast cancer. Mozell was born on May 7, 1927, to Olinthous “Jack” and Leona (Romine) Howard north of Olustee on the family farm. Graduating from Victory High School in 1945, she attended Altus Junior College and married E B “Pete” Raley on December 21, 1952 in Hollis. They enjoyed forty years of marriage before his death in August of 1993. Mozell was a lifelong, active member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church where she loved organizing crafts for Vacation Bible School. She also served as the church secretary after graduating from high school. A homemaker, devoted Christian mother, wife, sister and friend, Mozell loved gardening, needlework, vacationing across the United States and spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of the American Iris Society, having won many awards for her flower exhibits and a member of Mothers of Twins Club. Preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother Clarence Ketchersed and one sister Ninaruth Walker, she is survived by three children, Renna Creasser and husband Jerry of Rhome, Texas, Randy Raley of Altus and Rodney Raley and wife Gayle of Anadarko; four grandchildren, Candi Creasser of Lewisville, Texas, J.R. | Ragsdale Crystal Ragsdale, 47, of Monroe, Tennessee, passed away suddenly at the Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. Crystal was born July 13, 1960, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Charles Ross and Beverly Jean (Walker) Galmon. She graduated from Granbury High School in Granbury, Texas, in 1979. She married Dr. Joseph W. Ragsdale December 8, 1998, in Atlanta, Georgia. He preceded her in death December 26, 2006. Crystal owned and operated her own business “Over the Sun” Spa in Livingston, Tennessee. She also held a real estate license and sold properties in her spare time. Crystal was a member of the Byrdstown Baptist Church in Byrdstown, Tennessee. Crystal is survived by two daughters, Tiffany Fritz of Monterrey, Tennessee, and Megan Ragsdale of Birmingham, Alabama; her parents, Charles and Beverly Galmon of Cookeville, Tennessee; one brother, Mark Galmon and his wife Spring of Birmingham, Alabama; her maternal grandmother, Nadine Walker of Algood, Tennessee, and her paternal grandmother, Mandy Galmon of Calhoun, Georgia. | Herbert “Hub” R. Roach Herbert “Hub” R. Roach, age 91, a life-long resident of Port, Oklahoma passed away Saturday, February 10, 2007 in Elk City, Oklahoma. Herbert was born on March 25, 1915 in Birksville, Kentucky to John and Martilla (Dullsworth) Roach. On June 5, 1937 Herbert married Vollie Mae Evans in Cordell and they were married over 53 years before her death in 1991. Herbert was a member of the First Baptist Church of Port. He was a farmer and rancher and really enjoyed working with his farms and livestock. Herbert liked to spend time with his grandchildren and followed all of their school activities. He also enjoyed playing cards. Herbert was a hard worker and devoted to his family and will be missed greatly. Preceding Herbert in death was his wife, Vollie Mae Roach; parents, John and Martilla Roach; three children, Hal Dean Roach; Rex Roach; Wanda Jean Roach; two brothers, Marshall Roach; Weldon Roach; two sisters, Verdie Early and Daisy Martin. Herbert is survived by two children, Gary Roach and wife Judy of Midwest City; Nancy Weaver and husband Steve of Sentinel; one sister, Georgia Kuhn of Hobbs, New Mexico; six grandchildren, Brad Roach and wife Lori of Shawnee; Lora Williams of Midwest City; Jason Roach and wife Jimmi of Midwest City; Garrett Roach of Midwest City; Curt Ellis and wife Audrey of Yukon; Tamika Carrillo and husband Rufino of Weatherford; twenty great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives; and many friends. Services for Herbert “Hub” R. Roach will be held at 4:00 pm, Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at the First Baptist Church of Sentinel with Keith Gillham and Kelly Smith officiating. Interment will follow at the Port Cemetery under the direction of our funeral home in Sentinel, McClure Funeral Home of Sentinel. |
| Rose Cindy Denise Rose, 47, of Altus, passed away Sunday, October 14, 2007, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus after a long battle with cancer. Cindy was born October 14, 1960, to Eddie F. Couch and Cynthia Ann (Rogers) Couch in Pampa, Texas. She grew up and attended school in Mangum, Oklahoma. She loved riding motorcycles, listening to music, hanging out with her many friends, and loved sports, especially O.U. Cindy was a staunch Democrat. More than anything, she loved her children. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eddie F. Couch and Cynthia Ann Cousins. Cindy is survived by her children, Lindsey Couch and special friend Cory Nichols, of Oklahoma City, Amber Rose of Altus, Danny J. Rose III, of Dallas, Texas, and Chelsea McKee of Altus; one sister, Robin Oxford of Altus; one brother, Edward (Ty) Couch and his wife Crystal of Mangum; six nephews, Rusty Couch, Levi Oxford, Austin Oxford, William Couch, Dallas Couch, and Jeffrey Wilson; one niece, Brittany Wilson, and many other loving family members and her many, many friends who have supported her during her battle with cancer. The family will receive guests from 6:00 until 9:00 pm Monday, October 15 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, October 16 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Chapel with Reverend Randy Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow at the Blair Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus. | Bruce Rutherford Bruce Rutherford, 46, passed away suddenly at his home in Oklahoma, on December 11, 2007. Bruce was born March 12, 1961, in Wright County, Iowa, to Lloyd Rutherford and Joan (Hollinger) Thome Snow. He married Lisa Edgell and they had many happy years together before her death on July 30, 2006. Bruce served his country in the United States Air Force for twenty years before his retirement in 2002. He then began his career in Civil Service at the Altus Air Force Base where he was currently employed. He is sirvived by twin sons, Andrew and Alec Rutherford, of the home in Altus; his parents, Lloyd Rutherford of Maplewood, Minnesota, and Joan Thome Snow of Yuma, Arizona; one brother, Robert Wood of Little Canada, Minnesota; one sister, Julie Morrison and husband Arthur of Quincy, Michigan; two nieces, Amanda and Kelsey Wood, both of Angola, Indiana; two nephews, Arthur Carl Morrison and John William Morrison, both of Quincy, Michigan; mother-in-law, Sandy and Willie Shaw of Altus; and seven step-brothers and step-sisters. | RICHARDSON Lena Evelyn (Render) Richardson was born November 13, 1928 in Eldorado, Oklahoma and passed this life on Tuesday, February 19, 2008 in the Hardeman County Memorial Hospital, Quanah, Texas. Lena Evelyn was the fourth child born to James Olin “Chum” and Lena Leslie (Gardner) Render. She was the only one who survived to adulthood. A 1946 graduate of Eldorado High School, Lena Evelyn attended Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha and Oklahoma A & M University in Stillwater. Much to the dismay of her parents, she did not complete her college education, but returned to Eldorado to marry “the love of her life” John Doyle Richardson on November 20, 1948 in Quanah, Texas. They made their home in Eldorado. Their only child, Leslie Joan, arrived on Easter Sunday, April 9, 1950. The young family then moved to Wichita, Kansas. From there they moved to Yuma, Arizona where they farmed irrigated cotton; then to Lubbock, Pampa and Dimmitt, Texas, before returning to Eldorado to take over the Render family farm and to custom combine. While in Pampa, Lena Evelyn and John Doyle were both employed by Cabot, John at the plant and as a driver and Lena Evelyn in the downtown office where she had her first taste of technology as an IBM keypunch operator. While in Dimmitt, she worked part time in the office of the Castro County Judge. Following John Doyle’s death in 1971, she took on the farming operation and worked as an inspector at one of the factories in Eldorado; in the mid 1970’s she was employed as a house mother at the Canadian County Youth Shelter in El Reno, Oklahoma. Lena Evelyn then began working at the bank in Eldorado in 1978, where she worked until her retirement. Lena Evelyn and J.R. Miller were married in July, 1984. This was a second marriage for both. J.R. passed away in October, 1994. Lena Evelyn had a passion for reading. She campaigned long and hard for the bookmobile that services this area. A member of several local clubs and organizations, she gave one hundred percent to what she believed in. Rev. Don Ladner, formerly of Eldorado, will conduct her service on Thursday, February 21, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at the Eldorado First Baptist Church, where she was a member; burial will follow at the Eldorado Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Eldorado. Preceded in death by her siblings; her parents; her husbands; son-in-law, James Crawford Gillam; her half brother, Glen Render, Lena Evelyn leaves behind her daughter, Joan Gillam and grandson, Trevin Gillam, both of Eldorado; a niece, Paralyn (Render) Moore, Canyon, Texas; a few relatives and a great number of friends. | RISINGER W.J. Risinger, age 87, of Altus, passed away on Friday, April 18, 2008, at Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton. Mr. Risinger was born on January 12, 1921, at Altus to Walter Jackson and Texie Ann (Elkins) Risinger. Living in Jackson Country all of his life, he worked on the farm with his parents for the first several years of his life. Being drafted into the U.S. Army in 1942, he served in Normandy, Northern France and the Rhineland. On December 3, 1945, Mr. Risinger was honorably discharged and returned to Altus where he met Imogene DeFord. On September 25, 1948, they were married in Vernon, Texas and they were married fifty-seven wonderful years before her death on January 1, 2006. At the beginning of their marriage, they worked together picking cotton to make a living. In 1954, W.J. attended a trade school where he learned the art of bricklaying and worked on many projects in Southwest Oklahoma until his retirement. Fishing, boating, water skiing, working in the yard and raising tomatoes were some of his hobbies, but spending time with his family and friends were the important things in his life. Preceded in death by his parents, his wife, five sisters and six brothers, W.J. is survived by two daughters, Donna Kirouac and husband Roger of Altus and Doris Stebbens and husband Rick of Altus; four grandchildren, Kim Gray of Altus, Melissa Gaulden of Altus, Todd Kirouac of Altus and Jeffery Stebbens of Oklahoma City; three great grandchildren, Devan Gray of Russelville, Arkansas, Jason Gray of Altus and Joshua Gaulden of Altus along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Graveside services for W.J. Risinger will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at the Altus City Cemetery with Rev. John Webb officiating.
