| Elizabeth J. McKeaver Elizabeth J. McKeaver, age 63 of Altus, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2004 at Southwestern Medical Center in Lawton, Oklahoma. She was born December 25, 1940 in Axtell, Texas to Charlie and Ida (Thomas) Jackson. On January 22, 1993 in Vernon, Texas Elizabeth and Elisha McKeaver were united in marriage. She was a very active member of St. Johns Baptist Church in Altus. She sang in the church choir, held the position of Treasurer of the Missionary Women. Elizabeth was very devoted to her family and friends, she will be deeply missed by all that loved her. She is survived by her husband Elisha McKeaver of the home in Altus, Oklahoma; ten children, Harvery Hill and wife Teshawn of Scottsdale, Arizona., Tanisha Massie of Altus, Oklahoma, Andra McKeaver of Ft. Stewart, Georgia, Greg McKeaver and wife Jackie of Virginia Beach, Virginia, David McKeaver and wife Sharice of Barstow, California, Mack Bussey and wife Roxanne of San Diego, California, Terry Wilson and wife Rita of Oxon Hill, Maryland, Jewell Morrow and husband Wayne of Luxemburg, Germany, Steve McKeaver of Altus, Oklahoma. She is also survived by one sister Ollie Mae Wilson of Seattle, Washington, five brothers, Ralph Jackson and wife Wilma of Altus, Oklahoma, Robert Jackson and wife Gwen of Altus, Oklahoma, Marion Jackson of Altus, Oklahoma, Harry Washington of Weatherford, Oklahoma and Larry Washington of Kentucky; twenty-five grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and many friends. Elizabeth is preceded in death by her father, two sons, one sister, two brothers, one niece and one nephew. | Sam McAskill Sam McAskill was born Dec. 4, 1911 in the Ozark Community. He was the son of the late Charles and Katie Clinkscales McAskill. He died Feb. 18, 2004 in Altus. Sam married Elizabeth Minor, March 11, 1940 in Altus. He served in the UNITED States Army overseas during World War II and was honorably discharged. He was a life long resident of Jackson County. He worked with the Bureau of Reclamation and participated on the lake Altus Lugart project. He attended the First Baptist Church, a life member of the Elks Club, and was a very active member of various farming organizations. He was a farmer and rancher for most of his life. | Neomia V. (Briscoe) McAskill Neomia V. McAskill age 88, passed away December 6, 2003 at English Village Manor. She was the daughter of the late Dan & Mary Briscoe. Neomia was born April 20, 1915 at Doan’s, Texas in the old adobe home that was later restored by the Texas Historical Society. She was five when the family moved to the Hess Community where she attended school. She was proud of her scholastic accomplishments and was a member of the Hess basketball team. After her graduation from Hess High School, she played one year for the Oklahoma Redheads. Neomia was baptized in the North Fork River at an early age. Neomia married Carr (Sprout) McAskill Sept. 7, 1935 in Altus and he preceded her in death in 1977. They made their First home three miles from Ozark, later buying a farm and moving south of Hess where they lived until 1972 when they moved to Altus. She was an active member and Sunday School Teacher at the Hess Baptist Church. She later moved her membership to the First Baptist Church of Altus where she was a member of the Elizabeth Sunday School Class. Neomia spent 34 years caring for her daughter Mary Beth who was a victim of Polio from age six. She dedicated her life to making Mary’s life as full as possible. She never complained and treasured being a nurse to her daughter. Neomia was a Godly, courageous, and wise woman who will be missed by all those who knew her. She loved to study the Bible and share what she learned with others. | Alda Bea McCarver Alda Bea McCarver, age 70 of Altus, passed away October 27, 2003 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Services, under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus, are set for 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, October 29, 2003 at the Church of the Nazarene in Altus. The Rev. Gary Bohannan will officiate and interment will follow at the Gould Cemetery. Alda was born on September 4, 1933 at Gould, Oklahoma to her parents, the Rev. James Miranda and Hattie Oakley Mathis Miranda. She attended area schools, and on June 1, 1951 was united in marriage to JR McCarver at Hollis. They enjoyed many years of marriage. Alda was a member of the Church of Nazarene in Altus, where she taught Sunday School and was on the Church Board. She was also a volunteer with the Jackson County Election Board. She was preceded in death by her husband, JR McCarver and her parents. Alda is survived by her children, Pam McCarver of Altus and Bruce McCarver and wife, Sharon of Hollis; four brothers, Charles Miranda and wife, Ann, of Conway, Arkansas, Odell Miranda and wife, Ada Lou, of Gould, Ernest Miranda of Altus, Darrell Miranda of Chandler, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Derek McCarver of Weatherford, Oklahoma and Carla McCarver of Hollis and a host of other relatives and friends |

| Inavelle Letha McElwain Inavelle Letha McElwain, age 69, died of Lupas related complications at Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City Sunday, September 14, 2003 following a lengthy illness. Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Pastor Robert Marsteller. Burial will follow at the Altus Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Inavelle was born October 15, 1933 at Walters, Oklahoma and was the daughter of Houston and Irene Burton. She attended school in Altus graduating from Altus High School in 1952. She attended Altus Junior College for a time and went on to Realitors School. She married Keith McElwain in 1974 and they moved out of state. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and enjoyed square dancing and golfing and was preceeded in death by her partents and husband Keith McElwain in March of 1992. Survivors include: Two (2) children; Gary Ledbetter of Oklahoma City and Peggy Fuerer and her husband Mike of Del City, Oklahoma. Three (3) stepchildren; Terri Miller and her husband Mark, Janet McElwain, and Chris McElwain. | Norma Gean McCuistion Norma McCuistion was born Jan. 16, 1937 in Welty, Okla. She was the daughter of the late Fate and Alta (Pulley) Welch. She died Sept. 25, 2003 at the Jackson County Memorial Hosp. She married Perry McCuistion, Nov. 3, 1955 in Vernon, Texas. She was a long time resident of Altus and Olustee, having moved from Altus to Olustee in 1949. She was a Baptist and her hobbies included crocheting, sewing, and playing bingo. Her family was all important in her life. | Eloise McDonald Eloise McDonald, age 71 of Altus, Oklahoma passed away Friday, January 23, 2004 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. She was born August 15,1932 in Maude, Oklahoma to Jesse and Myrtle (Furr) McDonald. Eloise had lived in the Altus area for many years. She was homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Eloise is survived by two daughters, Donna Prinos of Altus, Oklahoma, Laurna Badeaux of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. | Oliver Perry (Buddy) McKee Buddy McKee was born April 15, 1933 in Altus, Okla. He was the son of the late Oliver Perry and Gladys (Sheehan) McKee Sr. He passed away Friday, February 20, 2004 in Altus, Oklahoma. Buddy married Wanda Lou Roudebush, April 10, 1955 in Humphreys, Oklahoma at the Humphreys Baptist Church. Buddy worked at Shamburger Lumber, Antrim Lumber, and Marks Lumber Yard for 37 years. He also owned and operated his fence charger repair shop for many years. He delivered meals on wheels, and was a long time member and Deacon at the Thomas Street Church of Christ. He also served on the Bus ministry for several years. His family and friends were the most important factors in his life. | Doris Watson McWhorter Doris Watson McWhorter, age 92 was the wife of the late Clark T. McWhorter of Altus, the mother of Beth McWhorter Eichel and husband Dr. Berkley S. Eichel, the grandmother of Stephanie North and Melissa and Leslie Eichel of California. Doris was born in Blair in 1911 and was the granddaughter of pioneers of Old Greer County. The Watsons and her mother’s family, the Thorns, filed in 1890 and 1898 on land near the present town of Blair. Her grandparents helped to get the first school started and she was especially honored when asked to give the Commencement address at the Blair High School Seniors graduation. Doris attended Kidd-Key College, OU and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Oklahoma State. For many years she taught at Blair school. Every place she worshiped, she taught Sunday school, including the First Baptist churches of Blair and Altus. She was also pianist at the church in Blair. Doris was a public speaker and popular reviewer of books in many Oklahoma towns. Her family and friends were very important to her. She was president of the Tillman-Kiowa District W.M.U.; A.A.U. W., McDowell Club and Erolethian Club and was very involved in the community and her church in many ways. She wrote skits, poems, operettas and programs for school and church. Her writing appeared in many magazines and newspapers. Her book of poems Reflections in Rhythm, published in 1974, was one of her happiest accomplishments. Doris and her husband Clark believed in helping others. They will truly be missed by family and friends. Interment service will be held Saturday, July 17, 2004 at 1:00 P.M. at Blair Cemetery with Dr. Morris Foster officiating. Celebration of Life service for Doris Watson McWhorter is scheduled for Saturday, July 17, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. in the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Keith Wiginton officiating.
