Obituary for Oleta Allen
Oleta Allen, age 95 of Altus and formerly of Warren and Blair, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the Plantation Village Nursing Home in Altus.
Oleta was born in Warren, Oklahoma on April 8, 1922 to her parents Guy C. Hardy and Bertie Mae (Rummage) Hardy. She graduated from Warren High School Class of 1939 and on February 8, 1946 Oleta married the love of her life Willard Allen in Vernon, Texas and they enjoyed over 40 years of marriage together until Willard’s death in 1986. She worked at the Kellwood Sewing Factory for many years in Altus until she retired. Oleta was a faithful member of the First Assembly of God Church in Altus for many years. She enjoyed bird watching, watching wrestling and westerns on the TV, and she always enjoyed getting out and about, but most of all Oleta treasured time with family and especially her grandkids.
Preceded in death by her parents; her husband Willard; her son Coy Dan Allen; two sisters, Juanita Hyatt; and Dortha Collins; Oleta is survived by two daughters, Betty Collier and husband Mike of Altus; and Joyce Stephenson and husband Richard also of Altus; seven grandchildren, Coy Guy Allen of Rhode Island; John Allen of Oklahoma City; Wade Collier of Altus; Kathy Airington of Altus; Jason Atchley and wife Maricella of Altus; Bobby Atchley and wife Julie of Burns Flat, Oklahoma; and Christopher Atchley and wife Sarah of Michigan; ten great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; her sister-in-law, Myrtle Allen of Oklahoma City; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, other family members, and many friends.
The family will greet friends at visitation from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, January 19, 2018 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home in Altus.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 20, 2018 at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel in Altus with Pastor Arlis Moon, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at the Warren Cemetery in Warren, Oklahoma under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory, Altus, Oklahoma.
