Obituary for A. G. Steele
A. G. (Glenn) Steele of 1800 Grape St., Pampa, Texas, died Wednesday at the Highland General Hospital.
He was born December 2nd, 1885 near Metz, MO. In 1904 he moved to Hobart, OK. June 29, 1909 he married Blanch Mae Nabors, who preceded him in death in 1969.
Mr. Steele was an outstanding pioneer educator in Western Oklahoma. He received his B.A. Degree from Southwestern State Teachers College in Weatherford, OK, and an M. Ed. degree from the University of Oklahoma.
From 1918 until 1926, he was superintendent of the Elk City, Oklahoma schools, moving to Altus in 1931 where he was Superintendent of Schools and Dean of Altus Junior College until his retirement in 1960. Mr. Steele was a prominent Methodist layman in Southwest Oklahoma.
Survivors include: one son, Aubrey L. Steele of Pampa, Texas; two grandchildren, Mrs. Brent Perry of San Antonio, TX and Richard A. Steele of Pampa, Texas; four great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Altus on Friday, December 9, 1981.
