CARD

A.J. Card, age 80, of Altus, passed away Wednesday evening, June 29, 2016, at English Village Nursing Home, in Altus.

Mr. Card was born in Lone Wolf, Oklahoma on September 30, 1935, to Arthur I. and Artie Rozell (Monroe) Card. Moving to the Friendship Community as a young boy, A.J. graduated from Friendship School in 1956. He later served his country in the United States Army with one of his assignments in Korea. On September 28, 1962, he married the love of his life, Beatrice Louise Neal, and they spent the next fifty-three wonderful years together before his death. After returning from the Army, A.J. farmed for a while before working for Pierce Paving. He later began working at Hammond Concrete where he worked for over twenty years, retiring in 2004. A mechanic all of his life, A.J. could fix about anything. A longtime member of the Church of Christ, A.J. enjoyed going to church, spending time with his family and friends and driving through the countryside visiting lakes and parks.

Preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Mary Jo Winters and Reta Hayes, he is survived by his wife, Bea, of the home; three children, Robert Card and wife Cynthia of Blair, Debra Hodge and husband Robert of Altus and Melisa Snyder and husband Mike of Blair; eight grandchildren, Crystal Card, Jason Card, Sr., Ra"Chael Kelly, Chadd Card, Leslie Hodge, Justin Hodge, Jacob Snyder and Jared Snyder; fourteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Mae Hill of Lanagan, Missouri and Betty Hayes and husband Ralph of Oklahoma City; one brother, Archie Card and wife Chiyoko of Oklahoma City along with many other relatives and friends.
