Agustin "Gus" Lopez, age 84, a longtime resident of Olustee, Oklahoma went to join his heavenly father on Monday, March 21, 2016 at Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton surrounded by his loved ones.

Gus was born in Villa Nueva, Texas on May 28, 1931 to Encarnacion and Maria Lopez. On September 8, 1952 he married Raquel Maldonado in Sinton, Texas and they enjoyed over 62 years of marriage. Gus and Raquel moved to Olustee where they raised eleven children and Gus resided in Olustee for over 56 years. Gus was a hardworking man who knew how to work the ground. His days would start early in the morning driving tractors, tilling, plowing, and planting. He was a farmer"s helper and worked for Pete Fessenden for over 25 years and also Dale Bilbrey for an additional five years and Western Hull sacking for ten years for Bill Box. He would come home from a full and busy day and continue his work by feeding his chickens, roosters, and dogs and finally would sit down to eat dinner with his wife and children. Gus was a man that had faith and believed and he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. He always made his children attend the house of God every Wednesday evening, Sunday morning and Sunday night. Gus was a jokester and he loved to laugh. He would always make time for his hobbies, racing grey hounds, cockfighting, and he loved to watch professional boxing. Gus was a good dad, loving and disciplining, he instilled in his children the importance of hard work, he did it all, and he will be greatly missed.

Preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Raquel in 2014; one infant son, Antonio Lopez; one brother, Lewis Lopez; two sisters, Raymounda Marez and Inez Rodriguez; and one grandson, Blake Evan Lopez; Gus is survived by six sons, Frank Lopez and wife Dora of Blanchard, Oklahoma; Encarnacion "Chon" Lopez and wife Veronica of Olustee; Augustin, Jr. "Tino" Lopez and wife Lora of Blanchard, Oklahoma; Eliseo "Cheo" Lopez of Oklahoma City; Eli "Lee" Lopez of Bay City, Texas; and Samuel "Sammy" Lopez of Granite; five daughters, Carlotta Gonzalez and husband Richard of Olustee; Rosalinda Lopez of Altus; Elizabeth McMinn of Altus; Alicia Walker and husband Bryan of Olustee; and Delia Salazar and husband Abraham of Lawton; 32 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

There will be a time of fellowship for the family and friends, Wednesday evening March 23, 2016 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home in Altus.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel in Altus with Bryan Walker officiating. Interment will follow at Olustee Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory of Altus.
