Alzada Copeland Hawkins
Alzada Copeland Hawkins, the youngest of three brothers and three sisters, was born to Jim and Joanna Copeland on March 16, 1904 in Russ, Texas.
In 1934, she married Robert Hawkins in Jacksonville Texas and shortly thereafter moved to Altus with one daughter Louise. Robert preceded her in death in 1942.
Her life exemplified a strong spirit of loyalty, commitment and dedication to family, friends, and the community. Alzada soon became faithful member of Macedonia Baptist Church where she was deligent in her service as a member of the senior mission, usher board, and chairperson of numerous church programs and activities. She continued her stewardship with Macedonia until health problems curtailed her strength.
She is survived by many loving and caring friends, relatives , nieces and nephews, one daughter, Louise Hawkins Henderson of Altus, four grandsons, Randel Douglas of Altus, Donald Dean of Oklahoma City, Roy Douglas of Houston, Texas and Buddy Michael of Oklahoma City. Three Granddaughters, Linda Troyette of Forrestville, Maryland, Lisa Devette of Trenton, New Jersey, and Carmen Francis of Oklahoma City. seven great granddaughters, eight great granhdsons, and one great great grandson . Her three brothers, Ezee, Robert and Tom and two sisters, Cora Lee Ross and Ollie preceded her in death.
