Obituary for Amos Bertram Kirby
Amos Bertram Kirby was born April 17, 1893 in Delta County, near Cooper, TX. He died Saturday, February 24th, 1990 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital.
He came to Oklahoma November 4, 1904. He was united in marriage to Louise Blair on October 8, 1927 in Altus, OK.
He farmed near Hess, OK from 1904 until 1936. They spent the next 11 years working in Civil Service in Utah.
Mr. Kirby served for two years with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion for 70 years.
He and his wife have lived in Altus since 1961 when he retired from Civil Service.
Survivors include: his wife, Louise, of the home in Altus, Oklahoma; three children, Lloyd Laverne Kirby of Muldrow, OK, Wanda June Beddingfield of Panhandle, TX and James Wendell Kirby of Muldrow, OK; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, James A. and Sally Kirby; eight brothers and sisters.
Services will be at the Thomas Street Church of Christ at 2 P.M. Monday, February 26, 1990. Bill Osborne will officiate. Interment will be in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Tims Funeral Home.
