Obituary for Anatalia Marie Turbe


 Marie Turbe, 92, former Altus, Oklahoma resident, passed away peacefully at home with her kids at bedside, in Mustang on Sunday, October 6, 2024.

Anatalia Marie (Magras) Turbe was born on June 11, 1932, in Frenchtown, St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands to Pierre and Henrietta (Bernier) Magras. She grew up in St. Thomas and married Joseph Leonard Turbe on June 12, 1949. The two were married for sixty-nine wonderful years. She owned and operated the family business, La Belle Creole Department Store, which has been in the family for generations. She was known as Miss La Belle or Talia. After retiring they moved to Jacksonville, Florida to be closer to their kids. They later moved to Altus, OK and lived there for eight years until Leonard's passing. Anatalia then moved to Mustang, OK with her daughter. Anatalia was a former member of the St. Anne's Chapel in Frenchtown, St. Thomas, and the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Altus. She enjoyed embroidery, cooking, reading novels and biographies, and painting.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Pierre and Henrietta; husband, Leonard; daughter, Debra N. Turbe Sokolowski-Clapp; son-in-law, Michael L. Winston; two brothers, Almando and Leopold Magras; and a sister, Olivia Magras.

Survivors include three sons, Leonard Joseph Turbe and wife, Sheri; Dale Gerard Turbe and wife, Patty; and Paul Leonard Turbe and wife, Irma; two daughters, Desiree Turbe-Alexander and husband, Michael; and Sandra Turbe-Winston; seven grandchildren, Thomas Sokolowski, Jr. and wife, Helen; Theodore M. Alexander and wife, Carmen; Marcel W. Alexander, Drew R. Alexander and wife, Glenda; Stephen E. Turbe and wife, Amber; Derik L. Winston and wife, Amanda; and Jene M. Winston; five great grandchildren Lily A. Winston, Jayvyn Alexander-Santiago, Marisol Alexander, Jacob Alexander, and Nicolus A. Winston; and two sisters, Margaret Magras and Florie Magras.

A memorial service will be 2:00 PM Monday, October 14, 2024, at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Mickey Reeves officiating. Service and arrangements are under the care of the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory.
