Obituary for Annette Rhodes
Annette Hill-Archie-Rhodes was born June 19, 1938, to Willie Cordell and Alice Hill, a sharecropper and housewife, in Centerpoint, Arkansas, on the Boatwright Farm. Annette was a chubby-faced girl with deep cowlicks in her hairline, but she was certainly pretty. She was the eighth of 12 children. She was a very feisty and free-spirited girl.
Annette attended Childress High School in Nashville, Arkansas, where she ran track and played basketball. She was a hard worker. She pulled cotton, picked peaches, beans, and strawberries. She did whatever was needed to help the family. She went to Ohio to pick tomatoes. She worked hard and bought her family their first television. After returning from Ohio, she moved to Oklahoma to live with her sister Alliece. There God worked everything out for her good. She accepted and received the Lord into her life in April 1959. She was filled with the Holy Ghost and met Lathon Archie in May 1959. They were wed on June 15 of that same year. This marriage was instituted and blessed of God. They were blessed to raise four beautiful children, Chiffon Ann, Alice Vanessa, Lathon Jr. and Eddie Bernard. She later loved and influenced her adopted daughter, Harriett Williams and her children.
Annette was a successful entrepreneur, owning and operating Archie"s Daycare Center and Little Angels Daycare Center. She served God for over fifty years. She was an Evangelist-Missionary, Preacher, soul winner, Pastor"s wife, president and teacher of YPWW, YWCC, Sunday School, and Bible Band. She also served the Lord as Minister of Music and piano player. She worked with the financial department and was of great assistance to her pastor. She served Oklahoma Northwest Jurisdiction as 3rd Administrative Assistant to State Supervisor Mother Huffman and President of Aspiring Missionaries. She compiled a teacher"s manual for Evangelist Missionaries and was an international delegate to the COGIC National Convention in Memphis, Tennessee, for several years.
After the death of Supt. Lathon Archie Sr. in March 1998, she married Deacon Sam Houston Rhodes on August 6, 2004. Deacon Rhodes asked her if he would drive to Memphis, Tennessee, from Oklahoma would she go to dinner with him. She said yes, not expecting him to actually do it. He drove over 600 miles and used binoculars to locate her at the International Convention. They traveled, enjoyed and took care of one another until her home-going.
On January 11, 2011, Missionary Annette Rhodes left this earth realm and elevated to her heavenly home.
