Obituary for Ayfer Morrison
Ayfer Blackman Morrison, age 67 of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away September 3, 2019 at her home in Altus.
Mrs. Morrison was born in Ankara, Turkey on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1952 to her parents Sevki and Remziye (Cavcar) Zorauel. She graduated from high school in Turkey and when she was 25 Mrs. Morrison volunteered for enlistment into the United States Air Force. She served over 20 years in the United States Air Force with 9 years, 6 months, and 3 days of total foreign service. From August 2, 1990 through May 31, 1994 she was deployed in Support of Operation Desert Shield/Storm in her area of responsibility as an Inventory Management Craftsmen. Mrs. Morrison retired with an honorable discharge and she received the Meritorious Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster; the Air Force Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster; the National Defense Service Medal with one Bronze Star; the Southwest Asia Service Medal; the Air Force Short Tour Ribbon with three Oak Leaf Clusters; the Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon; as well as numerous time in grade and professional development awards. Mrs. Morrison was married to the love of her life and fellow Airmen Joseph Marshall Blackman and they enjoyed over 30 years of marriage together until his death in 2017. Mrs. Morrison enjoyed going shopping, watching the news, going to antique shops and garage sales.
Ayfer Blackman Morrison will be In-Urned next to her husband Joseph Marshall Blackman at the Altus City Cemetery in the Veterans Section in Altus, Oklahoma.
Mrs. Morrison has no immediate family and all are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the VFW Post 4876, Altus, Oklahoma.
A memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 11, 2019 at Lowell - Tims Funeral Home Chapel, Altus, Oklahoma. Inunment will follow at Altus City Cemetery, Altus, Oklahoma.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory, Altus, Oklahoma. Military Honors will be rendered by the United States Air Force, Altus Air Force Base Honors detail.
