Barbara Lee Adams, longtime resident of Altus, Oklahoma passed away February 5, 2024, at English Village Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family at the age of eighty-three.
On April 12, 1940, in Kansas City, Missouri James Robert and Goldwyn Sylvania (Rucker) Dailey celebrated at the birth of their daughter, Barbara Lee Dailey. Barbara was raised in Missouri and in San Diego, California. In 1969, Barbara took a bus to Altus, Oklahoma looking for a better life. Soon after arriving she met and fell in love with Richard Adams. On July 9, 1970, at the First Baptist Church of Headrick they were united in holy matrimony. Barbara was a homemaker and devote wife and mother. She made her children clothing by hand, and always made sure they had plenty to eat. In 1995 she attended and graduated from cosmetology school. She did hair for as referred to it as the LOLs (Little Old Ladies) at Park Lane Nursing Home and English Village. Barbara was a caretaker, and she was a neighborhood mom who was known to adapt the friends of her kids and treated them as one of her own. For as much as she enjoyed being a mother, becoming a grandmother brought her complete happiness. She cherished every one of her grandchildren and enjoyed spending as much time as she could with them. Barbara was a Christian who had said the sinner's prayer and believed Jesus was the only way for salvation. We know her last breath on this earth was her first in heaven. Barbara Leaves a legacy of love, devotion and compassion to her family.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Robert Dailey; mother, Goldwyn Sylvania (Rucker) Moore; to grandchildren, Jeremy Kelly, Robert Adams; and her beloved husband of forty-one years, Richard Adams.
