Obituary for Beatrice H. Stone
Beatrice Stone, 91, of Altus, passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2009, at English Village Manor Nursing Home in Altus.
Beatrice was born September 3, 1918, in Olustee, Oklahoma, to Arthur and Helen (Gray) Hicks Wicker. She lived most of her life in Altus. Beatrice married Victor V. Stone in October of 1937. She worked at Surplus City and Gibson"s in Altus for several years. She was also a dedicated homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother. Beatrice loved to sew and crochet and was a faithful member of Southside Baptist Church in Altus.
Beatrice is survived by two daughters, Noreta Kay Chambers of Altus and Darlene Cox and husband James, also of Altus; five grandchildren, Vicki (Cox) McIntyre and husband Don, Robert Chambers and Karen, Jimmy Cox and wife Rhonda, all of Altus, LaDana (Chambers) Jones and husband Chris of Norman, Oklahoma, and Shannon Chambers and wife Jeanette of Ponca City, Oklahoma; ten great-grandchildren, D.J. Edmonson, Spencer (Kelm) Cox, Kaylor McIntyre, Caitlyn Cox, Chloe Jones, Baylee Cox, Jakob (Davis) Chambers, Maddie (Kelm) Cox, Reece Jones, and Jordan Chambers. Several nieces and nephews also survive her.
Beatrice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Victor Stone in 1992, two sisters, Aline Ingledew and Frances Lillard, one grandson, Vic Chambers, and a great-granddaughter, Jamie Cox.
Memorial Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 16, 2009, at Lowell-Tims Chapel with Reverend Jason Duree officiating. The family will greet friends following the Memorial Service at the funeral home.
