services for Marvin Foster, 91, a former long time resident of Altus have been scheduled for 10:00am Friday at the Lowell-Tims Chapel with the Rev. Keith Wiginton officiating. Interment will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

Mr. Foster was born September 2, 1901 in Malakoll, Texas to Benjamin and Julie foster. He married Vada Ashby in 1928 and she preceded him in death in 1976. Mr. Foster got his first experience in the printing trade on the Texas newspaper, working during his high school years. Following graduation, he went to work for the newspaper in Rogers, Texas until 1924 when he moved to the Altus area. He then went to work for the Altus Times Democrat. Mr. Foster left the newspaper business for a while to go into the tire business. He went to Greenville, Texas where he bought a tire store. He returned to Altus in 1943. In 1945, along with George Ellis, he opened the Foster Ellis Tire Co.

He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church where he served the Lord in many Capacities.

Survived by his children; Wilma Foster Whisler, of Amarillo, Texas; James Alton Foster of McLoud, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Deborah Tully, Julie Hacker, Duane Foster, Becky Foster, and Tessie Foster; seven great-grandchildren.
