Obituary for Bernie Joe Haumesser, Sr.
Bernie Joe Haumesser Sr. made his heavenly journey Friday morning, May 7, 2021. Bernie was the oldest of nine children born to Imogene Sullivan Kelsey and LaVern Haumesser. Bernie was born May 28, 1953, in Olney, ILL. Growing up in the Round Timbers and Seymour area, Bernie attended school in Seymour, Tx.
Bernie joined the United States Marine Corp and served as a Marine Personal Clerk at Camp Pendleton Base in San Diego, California.
Bernie married Tina Glasspoole on the 23rd day of December, 1975, in Hobbs, N.M. From this marriage was born their four children: Crystal, Denise, Jeremy and Bernie Jr.(B.J.).
Bernie provided for his family by farming, working in the oil field, managing a trucking company, as a store clerk, making culverts and as a calcin operator. Bernie retired from American Gypsum in 2016.
Bernie called several places home: Olney, Tx., Seymour, Tx., Denver City, Tx., Higginbotham, Tx., Eunice, NM., Lovington, NM., and Hollis, OK.
Bernie enjoyed a good game of dominos, a hand of 42, shooting pool, reading Western books, working crossword puzzles, watching football (always for the underdog), and bowling. Bernie's favorite was working in the yard, building the deck, and putting out food for the birds and squirrels. Bernie's knowledge of plants and trees made it a learning experiance when you came to visit. His huge Elephant Ear plants were his pride and joy. Coffee on the back patio while watching the birds and squirrels was his way to start the day. Bernie loved to bake Carrot Cake and Pumpkin Rolls.
Greeting Bernie in heaven is his parents, infant sister: Kelly, brothers: DeWayne, Frankie, and Andy. Mother & Father-in-law: Rev. Robert & Martha Glasspoole.
Waiting to join him are his wife, Tina; daughter: Crystal and grandson, Michael; daughter: Denise, husband Bruno Acosta; grandchildren: Vanessa & A. J. Goodwin; son: Jeremy and grandson Justin; son: B.J. and grandson: Lake, all of Hollis, OK. Brothers: Darrell, of Lawton, OK., Scott of Witchita Falls, Tx.
