Obituary for Bert Walker
Bert Walker was born July 20, 1917 in Seminole, Oklahoma. He was the son of the late Gertrude and Harley Walker. He died February 23, 2003 in FT. Worth, Texas.

Bert married Vernie (Vaughn) Spivey, June 11, 1970 in Altus, Oklahoma. He was a long time resident of Altus and Jackson County. He worked as a plumber with Lee Roy Neher over 20 years. He was a long time and very active member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church where he served on various boards with the church. Bert was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and a devoted Christian and friend.

Survivors include his wife Vernie Walker of Ft. Worth, Texas; one daughter Wanda and Bill Neal of Hugo, Oklahoma; one son Bert Walker Jr. of Texas; twin sister Burdetta Witt; three step daughters June Hilton and Don of Altus, Oklahoma; Dean Burch of Kansas City, Kansas; Shirley Hull of Ft. Worth, Texas; and one step son Ewell and Kathleen of Lubbock, Texas; twenty three grandchildren, thirty one great grandchildren and twelve great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Helen Marie (Taylor) Walker, two sisters, Marie Worsham and Onetta Smith and one brother Ed Walker.

Services for Bert Walker are scheduled for 1pm Tuesday, February 25, 2003 at the Tabernacle Baptist Church. Interment will follow at the Victory Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
