Bertha E. Jones, 91, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2007, at the
Plantation Village Care Center in Altus, Oklahoma.
Bertha was born May 14, 1915, in Sturgis, South Dakota, to Clyde and Ellzana (Mendenhall) Tipton. She graduated from Sturgis High School. Bertha married Merle Edward Jones October 14, 1941, in Newcastle, Wyoming. She was a homemaker and loved reading, gardening, and sewing.
She and her husband, moved to Altus in the early 1970's where they lived in retirement.
Preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Wanda Davison, one brother, one sister, and one great-grandson, Bertha is survived by one son, Leroy Jones and his children Ellzana Jones and Remington Jones, all of California; one daughter, Ruby Patterson of Texas; a son-in-law, William Davison of Altus and his children William Davison, also of Altus and Wayne Davison of Huntsville Alabama; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services for Bertha Jones were held 10:00 am, Monday, January 8, 2007, at the Altus City Cemetery with Chaplain Erin Martinez officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.
