Obituary for Bertha Lemon Gunkel
Mrs. Bertha Lemon Gunkel, age 85, resident of Eldorado, died Wednesday at Lawton Comanche Memorial Hospital.
Services for Mrs. Gunkel have been set for 2:00 P.M., Friday afternoon at the Eldorado First Baptist Church, officiated by the Reverend Don Ladner. Burial will be in Eldorado Cemetery under direction of Lowell Funeral Home.
Born February 21st, 1891 in Indian Territory, she was married in 1907 to the late Fred W. Gunkel who died in 1968. She was a long time member of the Eldorado First Baptist Church, remaining very active in the Ladies Adult Sunday School Class.
Survivors include: three sons, Ewing Gunkel, Jr. and Eugene Gunkel, both of Eldorado and James Gunkel of Lawton; seven daughters, Gladys Thurmond of Houston, TX, Syble Holly of Huntsville, TX, Theaola Lynn of Grover City, CA, Frances Watkins of Lawton, Geneva Kirkpatrick of Amarillo, TX, Elizabeth Klein of Collinsville, IL and Mrs. Sylvesta Kinberger of Gretna, LA; one brother, Mr. Floyd Hopkins of Amarillo, TX; four sisters, Mrs. Lorene Herring of Sun City, KS, Mrs. Lizzie Seitz, Mrs. Myrtle Seitz and Mrs. Jessie Williams, all of Eldorado; 30 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
A son, R. J. preceded her in death.
