Obituary for Bessie Lee Goolsby
Bessie Lee Goolsby , age 91, of Blair, Oklahoma, died Monday at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital.
Services will be held Thursday, 2:00 p.m., at the Warren Baptist Church with the Rev. C.W. Ramsey and Rev. Everett Smalts officiating. Burial will follow in the Warren Cemetery under the direction of Lowell Tims Funeral Home.
Mrs. Goolsby was born March 30th, 1901 in Mt. Vernon, Texas to Lucy Ann (Weaver) and Jim Matthew Haley, and later moved to Lamar County, Texas. She married George Tracy Goolsby on November 30, 1921 in Ft. Worth, Texas and immediately moved to Jackson County where she resided the remainder of her life. She was a faithful member of the Warren Baptist Church.
Survivors include: seven children, Tracy Goolsby, Jr. and his wife Jo of Angleton, TX, Audrey Wiese and husband Ray of Appleton, WI, Herman Goolsby and wife Bertha of El Paso, Texas, Thurman Goolsby and his wife Kathryn of San Antonio, Texas, Vanita Elliott and husband, Toby and Carolyn McElroy and husband Clifford, both of Warren, OK and Joyce Gipson of Altus, OK; 23 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren (and one due in October); five great-great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Warren Goolsby of Covington, LA; a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her husband in 1962; her son, Norris Goolsby in 1937; great-grandson, Sammy McCarver in 1991.
