Betty Jo Swann
Betty Jo Swann, age 92 of Grand Prairie, Texas and formerly of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away Monday, March 26, 2018 in Grand Prairie.
Betty was born in Duke, Oklahoma on December 27, 1925 to her parents Herbert “Hub†Lane and Minnie (Austin) Lane. She graduated high school in Altus and married Neal Durwood Swann in Altus. Betty lived in several places including Amarillo, Altus, and later Grand Prairie, Texas. Through the years she worked at the Shaffer Hotel, the Quartz Mountain Lodge, and the W.M. Cameron and Company. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church as well as the First Baptist Church in Altus and she stayed active in her community with the Woodmen and Eastern Star groups. Betty enjoyed sewing, gardening, caring for animals, fishing, and she always treasured time spent with her family and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents; her husband Neal Derwood Swann in 1978; her son Calvin Preston; one brother, Delano Lane; two sisters, Lou Deal and Sylvia Echols; and her granddaughter Michelle Smith; Betty is survived by her son, Donald N. Swann; and her daughter Betty Lou Smith; one sister, Wanda Watson; six grandchildren, Dino, Kevin, Tiffany, Todd, Cal, and Shantell; twelve great grandchildren, London, Killian, Kolton, Demi, Madison, Josh, Nicole, Mandy, Brandon, Sean, Neil, and Corey; three great, great, grandchildren, Harper, Emma, and Brinley; numerous nieces and nephews including, Kyle, Donald, Steve, Cheryl, Robert, and Paula; and many friends.
The family will greet friends at visitation on Thursday, March 29, 2018 from 6:30 pm until 7:30 pm at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home in Altus.
Graveside Funeral services will be at 10:30 am on Friday, March 30, 2018 at Altus City Cemetery with Dr. Jeff Moore officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory, Altus, Oklahoma.
