Obituary for Beva M. Hoover
Beva Mae Hoover was born November 5, 1907 in Kentucky. She was the daughter of J.T. and Ada Cummings Hoover. She was raised in Altus. As a young woman she was supervisor of one division of the War Department in Washington, D.C. In the 1940's she worked as secretary for the Surgeon General of the United States. She worked as a secretary in Alaska for the Engineering Department during the construction of the Alcan Highway. Her work took her throughtout Northwest Canada and over a large part of Alaska and the Arctic circle. Beva retired from Civil Service in Oklahoma City after being associated with Tinker Air Force Base for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents. A sister; Myrtle Dunn; a brother; Logan Hoover and a nephew; Granville d. McElroy.
