Obituary for Bill Edward Brinkman
Bill Edward Brinkman went to live with his Heavenly Father on August 5, 2010. Bill was born to John William (Bud) and Dirotha Stidham Brinkman on September 13, 1936, in Altus, Oklahoma.
He attended Ozark School and graduated from Humphreys School in 1954. He attended one year at Southwestern state College and two years at Oklahoma A&M. He also served in the Army National Guard.
On December 26, 1961, Bill married Barbara Anne Cavness at the First Baptist Church in Hollis, Oklahoma. A son, Bennett Wade, was born in 1965, and a daughter, Krista Kerrie, was born in 1970. He was first employed at the Altus times Democrat and then worked as an insurance agent. In 1970, he worked briefly for just-elected Governor David Hall and then administrative assistant to Attorney-General Larry Derryberry. In 1975, he qualified as a real estate appraiser and, at the time of his death, was a partner in Dobbs and Brinkman Agency. He has been very active in civic affairs and the Military Affairs Committee. Although his marvelous professional success is admirable, his sharp wit and hilarious sense of humor is to be commended and forever applauded.
Bill was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, Johathon Edmond and Lou Dallas Stidham, and John and Eva Brinkman; his parents and parents-in-law James Bennett
(Jimmy) and Ethel McCarty Cavness.
Bill is survived by his wife, Barbara; his son, Wade; and daughter, Kerrie Brinkman-Green. He is also survived by his perfect and precious grandchildren, who were perpetually chased, tickled, and will always adore their Papa; Kailie Cavness Green (12), Bennett Monroney Brinkman (11),
Ella Lillian Brinkman (9), Brady Bingham Green (8), Ramey Edward Brinkman (6), and Krista Eden Green (5).
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am, August 9, 2010, at the First Baptist Church in Altus. Visitation will be Sunday night, August 8, at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home from 7:00-8:00pm.
