HICKS

Billy Wayne Hicks, age 84, of Altus, passed away early Thursday morning, August 25, 2016, at Hospice Quality Care, in Midwest City, Oklahoma.

Mr. Hicks was born in Sweetwater, Texas on August 20, 1932, to Albert and Lee (Bellar) Hicks. Growing up in Holiday, Texas, where he graduated high school, Bill began college at Midwestern State University. With his college interrupted by the Korean War, Bill served his country in the United States Army. On August 20, 1955, he married the love of his life, Maxine Mae Elliott, and they spent the next fifty wonderful years together before her death on April 17, 2006. After beginning their family, Bill returned to Midwestern and completed his bachelor’s degree, worked as a livestock inspector for several years and then spent twenty-five years working for Farm Home Administration, where he retired. Throughout his life, Bill had a love for farming and that love continued until his death. After a massive stroke on July 4, 2016, Bill’s health began to decline rapidly, but the love for his family never waned. In his spare time, Bill enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing and horse racing.

Preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one sister, Leola Thomas and three brothers, Otis Hicks, Happy Hicks and Leland Hicks, he is survived by four children, Howard Hicks and wife Teresa of Altus, Brenda Frymire and husband Tim of Thomas, Tammi Didlot and husband Dale of Moore and Wayne Hicks of Altus; eight grandchildren, Ronnie Hicks of Kansas City, Missouri, Dawn Hacker and husband Andy of Edmond, Oklahoma, Jay Frymire and wife Brooke of Norman, Ashley Maldonado of Houston, Texas, Elliott Maldonado of Moore, Zac Frymire and wife Jen of Oklahoma City, Brad Hicks and wife Breanna of Yukon and Kelsey Crawford and husband Colby of San Antonio, Texas; three great grandchildren, Tyler, Kennedi and Henry; one sister, Olene Bowling of Iowa Park, Texas along with many other relatives and friends.

Memorial services for Billy Hicks will be at 3 p.m., Saturday, August 27, 2016, at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Altom officiating.
