Billie Nell Hill, age 88, of Corn, Oklahoma, formerly of Altus, passed away early Friday morning, May 29, 2015, at Corn Heritage Village, in Corn.
Mrs. Hill was born in Gould, Oklahoma on December 11, 1926, to Daniel Alva and Ruby Pearl (Morris) Albright. After graduating from Gould High School in 1944, she married Floyd E. Johnson, Jr., on June 25, 1945. In 1960, Billie graduated from Southwestern State College, in Weatherford, with her bachelor"s degree and began teaching at Gould Elementary and Junior High. On February 26, 1966, Floyd died and Billie took his place as a rural mail carrier. She later worked as a case worker for the Department of Human Services. Billie later returned to Southwestern and obtained her Master"s Degree in Counseling and another Master"s Degree in Psychometry. Teaching for a short time at Hollis, Billie married Ballard Hill on January 11, 1980, and began working as an elementary school counselor and psychometrist. In 1981, Billie retired and later moved to Weatherford, after the death of Ballard on October 5, 1996, to be near her daughter. In 2012, Billie moved to Corn, where she lived until her death. In her spare time, Billie enjoyed gardening, working crossword puzzles, sewing, painting and knitting, but most of all she loved being with her family and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, her son-in-law Troy Leathers and one sister, Ruth Green, Billie is survived by two daughters, Karen Travis and husband Robert of Thomas and Debbie Frech and husband Elmer of Okemah; six grandchildren, Jennifer Dunford and husband Lorenzo, Robin Munger and husband Blaser, Emily Johnson and husband Trinity, Stacey Williams, Lezli Robinson and husband Mitch and Jessica Leathers and Joe; twenty-three great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Graveside services for Billie Hill will be at the Altus City Cemetery, at 2 p.m., Tuesday, June 2, 2015, with Earl Stephenson officiating. Services are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.
The family will greet friends on Monday evening at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home from 6 until 7 p.m.
