Obituary for Billy Joe McDowell
Billy Joe McDowell, age 74 of Altus, Oklahoma passed away Friday, April 13, 2001. He was born January 28, 1927 in Altus, Oklahoma to Corbin C., and Ina Alma (Bain) McDowell.
Mr McDowell served in the United States, Army during World War II and Korea. He was honorably discharged May 3, 1954.
On December 13, 1952 in Tucumcari, New Mexico Billy and Margaret Wilson were united in marriage. She preceded him in death.
Mr. McDowell worked as a truck driver for American farm Lines for many years. During his retirement he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of the Nazarene Church.
He is survived by tow daughters, Lynda Burk and husband Bill of Rowlett, Texas, Reanna Lynne McCarthy and husband John of Radcliff, Kentucky; two brothers, Steve McDowell and Rodney McDowell both of Altus, Oklahoma three grandchildren, Kevin Shepard, Justin McCarthy, Samuel McCarthy and two great-grandchildren, Taylor Megan and Emily Danielle.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Margaret McDowell, and one brother, Aulcey Ray McDowell.
Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, April 17, 2001 at 2:00pm in the Lowell-Tims funeral Home Chapel with Rev. T.O. Parsons officiating. Interment will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
