Obituary for Blonnie Forest Ray
Blonnie Ray, age 85, passed away Thursday, April 22, 2004 at Plantation Village Nursing Home in Altus, Oklahoma.
He was born June 20, 1918 in Martha, Oklahoma to Fred C. and Loura (Howerton) Ray. Blonnie married Juanita Wells at Vernon, Texas in 1948 and she preceded him in death, January 21, 1993. He was a longtime resident of Altus and Jackson County and a member of the Elm and Hudson Church of Christ.
Blonnie served four years in the U.S. Army during World War II and later owned and operated several restaurants in Altus, before retiring in 1994. Everyone will remember Blonnie for having one of the best burgers in town. You could always get his famous creations at The Altus Hotel Coffee Shop, Sagamar and Big D.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Juanita; three brothers, Joe Bob Ray, Freddie Lee Ray, and Bonnie "Buddy" Ray; and by one sister, Dema Winkler.
Blonnie is survived by his daughters, Mary Lynn Ray of Altus, Georgianna Ford of Canada; one son, Forrest Ray and wife Lois Ann of Altus; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three special sisters-in-law Linda Shartung, Mary Belt and Virginia Devoll.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 26, 2004 at Lowell-Tims Chapel with Bill Osborne officiating. Interment will follow in the Restlawn Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
