FRAZIER

Bobby "Gene" Frazier, age 84, died at "The Gardens", senior living center, in Richardson, Texas on April 7th 2014.

Gene was born in Altus, Oklahoma, March 3, 1930, to Eva (Weatherman) Frazier Fuqua and Claude S. Frazier. He grew up in Altus and graduated from Altus High School in 1948. He married Wanda Joye Roden, in Altus, on June 24, 1949. Gene worked for Halliburton as a seismographer in New Mexico and Texas for several years. In the early 60's Gene and Joye moved back to Altus where he owned and operated Gene's Exxon Service Station on North Main Street for many years. Shortly after his wife's death in December 1975, he moved from Altus. Gene married Hazel Nedro, of Altus, on December 7, 1979, in El Paso, Texas. Gene worked for Truck Stops Of America in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Las Cruses, New Mexico, Wheeling West Virginia and Memphis, Arkansas as the terminal manager for several years. Gene had an opportunity to go to work for Bright Transportation Corporation, in 1988, in St. Louis, Missouri and was later promoted to head the insurance department at the home office in Dallas, Texas. Gene retired in 2001, after many years, to enjoy his golden years. Gene loved the outdoors and was a golfer and loved to work in the yard, but his biggest love was flying. He was an experienced pilot and flew many times in his younger life as well.

Gene is preceded in death by his parents Eva (Weatherman) Fuqua and Claude S. Frazier; his stepfather, Ed Fuqua; his first wife, Joye Frazier; Scotty, a son who died at birth and one grandson John Michael Frazier. He is survived by a sister, Claudine Bacon and her husband Joe of Vernon, Texas; a son, Stephen Gene Frazier of Norman, Oklahoma; a daughter, Robyn K. Briscoe and husband Brent of Norman, Oklahoma; three grandsons, Kevin Lynn Briscoe of Norman, Jeremy Scott Briscoe of Norman and Stephen Scott Frazier and his wife Breann of Tulsa, Oklahoma and two great-grandchildren, Hailey Jean Frazier and Michael Scott Frazier. He also is survived by a very special friend for many years, Karen Templeton of Plano, Texas who was at his side until his death and his beloved Sheltie collie, Lacie.

Graveside services for Gene Frazier will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 11, 2014, at the Altus City Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.
