Obituary for Bobby Gene Phillips
PHILLIPS
Bobby Gene Phillips, age 78, of Mangum, passed away early Friday morning, April 19, 2013, at his residence in Mangum, Oklahoma.
Mr. Phillips was born in Corona, New Mexico, on April 13, 1935, to Festus and Esther (Voy) Phillips. During his childhood, Bobby attended school in Grapevine, Texas and Roswell, New Mexico where he later entered the United States Marine Corp. He proudly served his country for four years during the Korean War and was stationed in Japan, until the time he was honorably discharged. His sister Ruby introduced him to the love of his life, Edna Mead, and they were married in Sunray, Texas and they spent fifty-four wonderful years together. Bobby loved fishing, camping in tents, working in construction, remodeling homes, and spending time with his wonderful family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Cliff Phillips, Max Phillips, Nolan Phillips, Steve Phillips, and Ernest Phillips; 3 sisters, Ruby Parker, Billie Jo Voss and Wanda Prestridge. Bobby is survived by his wife Edna Phillips of the home; two children, Greg Phillips and wife Dawn of Hanford, California and Tina Mello of Mangum, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Katie Phillips, Kayce Phillips, Meagan Mello and Kori Pelles; two great grandchildren, Nevaeh Mello and Brody Phillips Mello, along with many other relatives and friends.
Graveside services for Bobby Phillips will be at 1:00p.m. Tuesday April 23, 2013 at Sunray City Cemetery in Sunray, Texas with Richard "Rick" Parker officiating, under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
The family will greet friends at Greer Funeral Home on Monday evening from 6 until 7 p.m.
