Obituary for Bobby LeRoy Copeland
Bobby L. Copeland, 89, Altus, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at his home.
Bobby was born on July 17, 1936, in Kingfisher, Oklahoma to Clifford and Mildred (Wallace) Copeland. He grew up on a dairy farm in Vinita, Oklahoma and attended White Oak School near Vinita. He met Patricia Ann Thiems and the two graduated in 1954. Bobby enlisted in the United States Air Force soon after and they were married on May 13, 1956. After his first tour in France, where they started their family, they were stationed in Altus in 1959. They have since made Altus their home. Bobby retired after twenty-one years of active duty as a Technical Sergeant. He worked various jobs after his retirement, just to keep busy. In 1991, Bobby and Pat bought Park Lane Beauty Salon. The two ran a successful hair salon/tanning business until 2001, when they retired. Bobby had a love for children, especially his grandchildren, and loved spending time with them. He was affiliated with the Retreads Motorcycle Club and enjoyed the many rides they took. He cherished time spent with his wife and family at the cabin at Lake Altus/Lugert, creating a lifetime of memories.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Pat; his parents, Clifford and Mildred Copeland; and a sister, Virginia Elliott.
Survivors include two children, Bruce Copeland and wife, Pamela, and Helen Holle; five grandchildren, Brian Copeland, Scott Copeland and wife, Brandi, Lisa Copeland, Michael Holle and wife, Shannon, and Michelle Holle; five great grandchildren, Riley, Caden, Nathan, Karsten, and Kaia; and many other relatives and friends.
A private family service will be held at a later date at the Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, where he and Pat will be laid to rest. Local arrangements and cremation are under the care of the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory.
