Obituary for Bonnie K. (Parks) Southern
Bonnie K. (Parks) Southern,age 72, died Tuesday, December 31st, 1996 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 3, 1997 at the Lowell Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. C.W. Parker, Jr. and Bill Osborne officiating. Burial will be at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell Tims Funeral Home.

Mrs. Southern was born August 30th, 1924 near Eldorado, OK, to pioneer parents, Cap and Julia Chesser and attended public schools in rural Jackson County. She was a longtime member of the Southside Baptist Church, Altus.

She married Robert Parks on June 12, 1942 and they operated the Altus Typewriter Company for many years before Robert died February 16, 1984.

Bonnie later married Ray Southern on June 15, 1990 at the Museum of the Western Prairie.

Mrs. Southern is survived by her husband, Ray of the home; one daughter, Bobbie Sue Wilson and her husband Randy of Glenwood Springs, CO; one son, Floyd Earl Parks and his wife Connie of Edmond, OK; three step-children, Linda Southern of Carrollton, TX, Darla Johnson and her husband Alan of Mounds, OK, and Elaine Guthrie and her husband Larry of Melbourne, AR. Also surviving are two sisters, Peggy Leader of Wyandotte, OK and Marie Moon of Altus, OK; three brothers, Lee Roy Chesser and his wife Betty of Altus, Cecil R. Chesser and his wife Loweta of Altus and Loyd Chesser and his wife Margaret of Bartlesville, OK. Surviving grandchildren and step-grandchildren are, Amber Hixon, Ashley and Heather Parks, Kent Wilson and his wife Jill, Dane Wilson, Paul, Karen, Linda and Daniel Johnson, Diana Stevens and her husband Clint, Bradley Guthrie; mother-in-law, Mamie Lindsey of Princeton, TX and a host of other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; her first husband, Robert Parks, February 16, 1984; one brother, Clifford (Bill) Chesser.

Family will be receiving friends Thursday, January 2, 1997 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lowell Tims Funeral Home.
