Capt. Steven Charles Beaulieu
Captain Steven Charles Beaulieu lost his life late Sunday afternoon, February 11, 2018, at the age of 31 in a biking accident north of Altus AFB, OK.
MEMORIALS: Those wishing to make a charitable donation in lieu of flowers may direct their gifts to United Way of Tarrant County’s Veterans Fund via www.unitedwaytarrant.org.
Born on January 15, 1987, Steven was the joy of our lives and the life of any party or gathering to which he was invited. He graduated from HEB ISD’s Trinity High School in 2005 with the IB diploma and from the USAF Academy in 2009. After flight training at Del Rio, he posted to RAF Mildenhall as a KC-135 pilot. While there, he earned a master’s degree in international relations from the University of Oklahoma. He also met another Academy grad, USAF physician Jessica Lotridge, who was then based at nearby RAF Lakenheath. Their friendship deepened, and the two were married in June of 2014. In 2015 they posted to Altus AFB, OK, and Steve continued his career as an instructor pilot on the KC-135. His most recent career achievement was graduation this past December from USAF WIC or weapons school, in his words, the most difficult but most rewarding months of his service to date. The latter earned him the call sign Pompeii (yes, there’s a story).
Steve’s high school years as trumpet section leader prepared him for his position as Commander of Drum and Bugle at USAFA, and he thoroughly enjoyed traveling and performing with the corps. He loved competitive sports, including ice hockey, lacrosse and soccer. In more recent years he enjoyed running, lifting, swimming and biking. He checked off one bucket list goal in August 2016 with the completion of the Ironman at Coeur d’Alene.
Steve’s priorities in life were his faith, his family and his service to country - and they were all somehow his top priority. His love for Jessica made his last three years his very best; their adventures to date have covered the globe.
SURVIVORS: His beloved Jessica (her father Robert and host of related family), parents Walt and Faye, sisters Aimee (husband Gerald, daughters Sarah and Rahel), Carla (husband James, daughter Alexis, son William) and Caryn (husband Matt). Countless USAF personnel he counted as brothers and sisters, inestimable friends impacted in circles too many to count.
Life is not fair; life is instead precious. Steve’s days, though relatively few as we count them on earth, were full of life. A toast!
