Carl "Frog" Risinger, age 78 a lifetime resident of Jackson County, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus.
Carl was born in half dugout in Hess, Oklahoma on December 12, 1939 to his parents Homer Francis Risinger and Lizzie Mae (Steen) Risinger. Carl grew up in Hess and has lived in Altus, Oklahoma for many years. He served his country in the United States Army, the Army National Guard, and the Army Reserves, and received an honorable discharge. On May 20, 1961 Carl married Shirley Stephens at the First Baptist Church in Hess and they have enjoyed over 57 years of marriage together. He worked as a car salesman for Skinner Motor Company for many years and sold Butler buildings for J & M Construction and later Carl worked for Tom Green with the SW Telephone Company in Duke. Carl enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his family and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Dale Risinger; and one sister, Earlene "Beans" Risinger. Carl is survived by his wife Shirley Risinger of the home; his special daughter, Cheryl (Whitman) Self and husband Neal of Elgin; two brothers, Bill Risinger and wife Sally of Hess; and Gary Risinger and wife Debbie of Elk City; special friend, Kay Payton of Lone Wolf; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, other family members, and many friends.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Friday, October 12, 2018 at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jason Duree officiating.
Interment will follow at the Hess Cemetery south of Altus under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory, Altus, Oklahoma.
