Obituary for Carl McCoy Lightner
Carl McCoy Lightner, age 90, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away October 21, 2002. Graveside services, under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus, are set for 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 10, 2002, at the Altus City Cemetery. Rev. Buddy Dugan will officiate.
Carl was born May 1, 1912, to parents Augustus and Mable (McCoy) Lightner in Olustee, Oklahoma. He grew up in the Altus area where he attended school. Carl was a graduate of Oklahoma State University, where he received his business degree. He worked in banking for many years, working in Altus, Grandfield, Cleveland, Vinita and Oklahoma City. Carl was a WWII veteran of the US Army Air Corp. Carl also enjoyed a long marriage with wife, Helen, who preceded him in death in 1990.
Survivors include three children; one daughter, Jane and husband Fred Roll of Vinita, Oklahoma; two sons, Mac Lightner and wife Sue of Overland Park, Kansas and Jim Lightner and wife Beverly of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is also survived by five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and sister-in-law, Mary Nell Mock and husband Paul of Altus.
