Obituary for Carrol Edison Shive
Carroll Edison Shive, age 84, passed away in Chickasha, Oklahoma, on July 9, 2001. he was born May 12, 1917 in Altus, Oklahoma to Henry Clay and Carrie Jane (Talkington) Shive.
Carroll grew up in Jackson County and graduated from Ozark High School. On May 11, 1940, Carroll married Earlene Norwood in Friendship, Oklahoma. As they built their lives together, Carroll farmed for many years and later moved to California where Carroll worked for a milk transport company for 31 years until his retirement. They then moved to Lindsay, Oklahoma where he lived for the last 28 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lindsay.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Hattie Lethgo and Euna Mae Turley; and two brothers, William Shive and John Shive. He is survived by his wife, Earlene Shive of the home in Lindsay, Oklahoma; and a daughter Carole DeVries and her husband, Garrett, of Lindsay, Oklahoma; one sister, Ruth Hooper of Altus, Oklahoma and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Grave side services are set for 10:00am Wednesday, July 11, 2001 at the Altus City Cemetery with Rev. Monty Baggett officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
