Obituary for Carroll Mack Adams
Carroll Mack Adams, 88, long time resident of Mangum, passed away on December 7, 2020 in Altus, Oklahoma. Carroll was born on July 23, 1932 in Sayre, Oklahoma to Castle Henry Mack and Sudie Mae Lowrance. He attended 1st-8th grade at Bulo Schools, then moved to Reed his Freshman year of High School. Carroll graduated from Reed High School in 1950. He married the love of his life, Anna Sue Bull on May 5, 1951. Of this marriage they had two daughters, Linda and Sherri.
Carroll was drafted into the Army in June 1954, he spent six weeks in El Paso at basic training, then was stationed at Ft. Sill until his discharge in June 1956. He worked as a bookkeeper at the Reed Gin until the late 1960’s. After he stopped working at the Gin, Carroll farmed and Ranched with his Dad. He had his Real Estate Brokers license, and operated an auction service with his sister and brother-in-law for over thirty years in Western Oklahoma. He was a member of the Mangum Mounties and never missed a chance to attend a Rodeo. He loved hunting and fishing, working cattle with his friends, playing dominoes, watching his grandkids and great grandkids play sports and show livestock. After moving to Mangum, Carroll and Sue enjoyed visiting with their coffee group. He was a member of Abundant Life Baptist Church in Mangum and after moving to Altus in March of 2019 he and Sue became members of Friendship Baptist Church.
Carroll is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of sixty-nine years, Sue Adams; Brothers, Murl Adams, and Melvin Ray Adams; Sister, Dorothy Jean Adams Hartman.
Left to honor his memory are his Daughters, Linda Carole Winters and husband Glen, Sherri Ann Smith and husband Randy; Sister-in-law, Pat Hamilton and husband Arleigh; Sister-in-law, Waniece Bull; Grandchildren, Jed Wayne Winters and wife Krystal, Adam Caroll Winters, and wife Emily, Lynsey Danielle Smith and Craig, and Cole Andrew Smith and Cathy; Great Grandchildren, Gage William Winters, Brenna Grace Winters, Holden Mack Winters, Luke Thomason Winters, Andrew Keith Smith, Charles Craig “Tripp” Gilbert, Hannah Lee Weeks and Dylan Lee Weeks; and many nieces and nephews.
An open visitation will be available on Friday, November 11, 2020 at Greer Funeral Home in Mangum from 12:00 P.M.- 8:00 P.M. A funeral service to honor Carroll will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Reed Cemetery in Reed, Oklahoma. There will be a large tent with chairs available. There will be plenty of room for social distancing. The family has requested that all in attendance wear a mask.
