Obituary for Catherine Eloise Cornelison
Catherine (Kaye) Eloise Cornelison of Granite Bay, California, passed away in Altus, Oklahoma on August 6, 2008, at the age of 88 years. Kaye, the daughter of Clarence B. and Vera Wyman Munson, was born July 9, 1920, in Oakland, California. On July 26, 1942, she married Dan G. Cornelison and they lived in Sacramento, Loomis and Granite Bay, California, enjoying 59 years of marriage filled with love, laughter and friends. Kaye's philosophy was characterized by a quote from the American journalist Lilian Whiting (1847-1942) "To be rich in friends is to be poor in nothing." She loved entertaining family and friends and lived life to its fullest with a smile on her face and a sparkle in her eyes.
In addition to managing her household, she pursued a career in medical insurance claims adjustment in Sacramento and retired from the insurance business in 1984 with 42 years of service. After her retirement, she was active in the Loomis, California community. She was a longtime member of the Loomis Friends of the Library and supported the annual library book sales and events.
When her health began failing in 2007, she moved to Oklahoma to be close to her family. Her husband, Dan, preceded her in death in 2001 in Auburn, California, and her only sister, Sally Ray Miller, in 1985 in Altus, Oklahoma.
She is survived by her brother-in-law Gail S. Miller of Altus, Oklahoma, her nieces Katherine E. Hale of Blair, Oklahoma and Jeanine G. Berrong and husband Brad of Weatherford, Oklahoma, Karen Jackson and husband Phil of West Sacramento, California, Syndie Arreola and husband Cense of Yakima, Washington, nephews, Jim Cornelison and wife Becky of Chicago, Illinois, and Rob Cornelison and wife Joan of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and her great-nephews, Jeffrey and Michael Berrong of Weatherford, Oklahoma. A host of other loving relatives and friends also survive her.
