Cathy Irene Davis (don’t call her Irene) was a resident of Altus, Oklahoma. Formerly she lived in Olustee, Oklahoma and Bishop, California.
She grew up in Vivian, Louisiana and graduated as the valedictorian of her high school. She continued her education that culminated in her master’s degree in education from Southwestern Oklahoma State University.
She was married to Curtis M. Davis in Bishop, CA and their marriage endured for 64 years.
She retired from the Olustee Elementary School system after teaching for 21 years. She was most well-known for teaching first grade from 1984 until 1999.
She loved Jesus with all her heart and was an active member of the Baptist Church. She met her husband while on a mission trip from Louisiana to California. She taught several Sunday school classes, learned sign language to work in the deaf ministry, chaperoned trips to Falls Creek, and taught vacation bible school.
Cathy loved to a wide variety of artistic forms of expression. She loved to paint pastoral scenes of farmland and nature. She relished sewing and cooking gourmet meals. She was also extremely handy at multiple aspects of home renovation and enjoyed texturing walls and painting. She was a voracious reader and reveled in curling up with a good book on Saturday afternoon with a bag of Cheetos.
She was the oldest of four children, Patricia, Michael, and Jessie. She was preceded by her mother, father, and daughter Jeana. She is survived by her husband, three sons, six grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
A memorial visitation 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 24, 2024, at Lowell - Tims Funeral Home Altus, Oklahoma.
Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 25, 2024, at First Baptist Church of Altus, Oklahoma.
Cremation arrangements are under the care and direction of Lowell - Tims Funeral Home and Crematory, Altus, Oklahoma.
