Obituary for Cecil Clarice Purdy
Cecil C. Purdy, age 90, passed away Saturday, March 27, 2004 in Altus, Oklahoma. He was born February 18, 1913 in Tipton, Oklahoma to John Wesley Purdy and Hattie (Carrena) Purdy.
He graduated from Tipton High School in 1931 and attended Southwestern State Teachers College in 1936 where he received his Bachelor's degree. While in college he met Margaret Whitley and they were married October 31, 1936.
He taught school at Midway near Eldorado, Oklahoma and was a grade school principal at Hess and Robert E. Lee and Washington Schools in Altus. He retired in 1950 to farm and train horses. Cecil was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Cecil is lovingly survived by his wife Cecil was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Dr. C. Max Purdy and two brothers, John Purdy and William Purdy.
Funeral Services for Cecil Purdy are scheduled for Tuesday, March 30, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. in the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Rev Margie Van Oostrum officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
